I gather Niko Kranjcar is out for the season. Knackered his knee in a behind closed doors friendly middle of last week.

    Evening Spurcat.

Do you know what was up with Carlo playing on Sunday? Was that 'Arry trying something out or did Friedel have a problem?

The players who played against Norwich on the Monday, were given 2 days off. Brad Friedel told Harry he'd been invited to do MOTD and was it ok for him to go to Manchester to appear. Harry said it was because Brad wouldn't be playing in the semi as he was sticking to his commitment of playing Carlo.

If we're going to go for making up teams of random players on our books...

    Walker Nelsen King Rose

    Van Der Vaart Parker Modric

    Dos Santos Adebator Bale

No, I don't want to see that formation or line-up, before anyone asks.

Was Carlo promised our cup run then? Easy to say now but I'd have rathered he was given a league game.

Carlo has played all our FA Cup games I think.

Harry confirmed the other day Niko was out for the season, don't know if it's been on the OS, but probably was as part of team news for the Chelsea game.

Yes he was promised it. I believe Stoke had a similar policy last season. Not my way of doing things, but that's the modern day game "tactics" for you.

Thanks for the info. Seems bizarre to me, I'd heard of it in the League Cup before but never the FA Cup. If I remember rightly Cudicini was promised the League Cup Final at Chelsea after Cech had arrived but they went back on it and played Cech. I think it was the Arsenal one.

I don't think we lost because of Cudicini but I think Friedel might have saved Lampards and/or Drogba's, I couldn't see Friedel messing up the corner for Mata's "goal" either. The defending was suicidal in the second half and deserves far more of the blame anyway.

I cannot believe some of the suggestions.
Harry is not going to change players now- he should have done mid-season to give players a rest and for rotation purposes. He didn't and he won't risk it now. We complain about round pegs in sqare holes with regard playing Modric on the wing and now people suggesting Walker as CB. sorry but I just don't see it-even if he did play there for Northhampton how long ago was it and against what sort of opposition. It will be Nelsen, that's why we brought him in. We also need all the experience we have against a team who will be fired up and who have beaten Chelsea and Arsenal.
Barton, SWP and Zamora can take control if we let them.

The team that starts will be very similar to Sunday. Possibly a DM (either Sandro or Jake) in place of Lennon and Nelsen to replace King.

As for the suggestion that Sandro can play CB- he would get a red card within minutes and give away a penalty.

    well said B&W.

In addition, the game against QPR is such a vital one, why would we change our lineup in such a crunch match, bearing in mind arsenal and chelsea are playing each other?. I think it was totsfan who made quite an optimistic post about catching arsenal for 3rd. - it's not a bad call to be honest.

only chelsea or arsenal can take 3 points, not both of them. secondly, if they draw, it's 2 points lost for each team.

Therefore if we win and arsenal lose, we're 2 points behind with a game in hand.

if we win and both arsenal and chelsea draw, we'll be 3 points behind arsenal with a game in hand, and 4 points ahead of chelsea

If we win and arsenal win, we're still 5 points behind arsenal with a game in hand, but chelsea are 5 points behind us again.

Arsenal's next game is Stoke away and chelsea have Liverpool very soon.

The only potential spanner in the works... Newcastle.... who are on fire.

we have to win. all this talk of youngsters coming in and other players playing out of position, filling gaps because we're not happy with a few performances of late, is utterly ludicrous at this stage of the season. rotation was needed months ago, not now. might as well stick with it for 5 games.

friedel, walker, gallas, nelsen, benny, lennon, modric, parker, bale, vdv, ade.

don't get me wrong here chaps, i've been a misery guts and thrown my toys out of the pram recently, but it ain't over till it's over!!!

    Good call Roo.,

Spurs go 2-0 up half way through the second half.,
Then give Ade and Benny a rest. bring on Sandro and Rose.,
Game over..., The 3 points in the bag.

QPR fan in peace, there's no chance of SWP starting for us,he's been utter toilet. However i'm pretty sure Hughes will start with Cisse now he's served his ban.So far in every game he's played for us he's either scored or been sent off,so expect some fireworks!

No one actually believes walker would play centre back, people who said it were just annoyed with what they saw and were thinking (radically) out loud and also we all know arry won't make major changes, its more just fans showing their frustration at the management and players when everyone is just hoping the team finds some form.

Well said TB, for me it's a cri de couer. I know Wlaker won't play CB, but I just can't bear the thought of King again, and even Gallas gives me no confidence.

I'll settle for Gallas and Nelsen, but it's not a pairing that fills me with hope. I really don't want to see BAE in the team though, he definitely needs to be dropped in favour of Rose. But doubtless Harry will persevere with Benny.

We'll see what the team looks like, if it's the same old same old from Harry, then I expect us to lose and maybe then some people will understand why change is needed. It'll be too late then of course.
