I'm just putting it out there GH, I don't know what it is, but its missing. Modric knows he's got CL football next season with us or not, same for Ade. Bale still gives the crowd the heart thing and will give us one more year, like he said he would. I don't expect to see the other 2 at Tottenham next year.
Just hope that Zamora doesn't have one of his good days, cos with the likely defensive options we have available, he could cause havoc. I think that it's probably a good game for Nelson. We know he lacks pace, but he has done little wrong for us, has loads of experience and appears to have the right attitude. Who plays alongside him is another matter: maybe Livermore, although I do recall him looking uncomfortable there before although cannot recall what game it was (EL perhaps?) Benny needs a rest but to jetison him is an overeaction to one of the goals yesterday, as he has done no more wrong than the rest lately: difficult to assess how an unsettled middle pairing influences the FB's. Rise has played there before as we know, but without any degree of confidence. It would be a big game to throw Smith into, but Walker also is looking tired so maybe necessary. Another example of the bad planning at Xmas when releasing players or sending others back out on loan.
Fair comments NSS. Keeping Modric doesn't look so clever now, I doubt we'll get what we could have done for him last summer. Maybe drop him for Loftus Road. I think Ade is still doing enough to warrant a game on Saturday.
Yep Relayer, it's all a bit of a mess isn't it? As fans we can throw around ideas, but does Harry have any better ones? He's really blown it in the last two games, I doubt it's recoverable now despite Wigan's win tonight. I don't think BAE should necessarily be told he's surplus to requirements, but I've never been a big fan of him, and I'd happily see Rose play there on Saturday.
You people are amazing. It's as if we're being relegated, not still in with a chance of CL. Are you sure you're supporters?
How we could use Corluka and Pienaar right now. Had Harry given them half a chance earlier in the season they would have been more content to stick around for the run in.
Fair comment TF. I believe Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing that failed time and again. If Harry plays King again I'll seriously start worrying about him
We're in a blip, it's as simple as that. A few months ago all our players were the best thing since sliced bread and now all of a sudden they should be sold/ dropped? Admittedly we've had some poor performances but we've also been on the end of some awful refereeing decisions and had really bad luck in games which we've dominated. We're still 4th, albeit I wanted/ predicted/ even expected 3rd but there's still a few games to go so who knows.
Very mature! I could think of a lot more serious things to be put on ignore for, other than suggesting there is a quite an overreaction going on. NB taking the name "Ghoddle" it might be remembered that the legend Mr Hoddle played throughout our relegation season and made his debut before that. I know, I saw our relegation season... how do people think we got relegated, by being a good team? And yet back then there was far less slagging off of our team, and particularly individual players among supporters. On the day we were relegated we all piled on the pitch and sang that we would support Spurs evermore. I did and will continue to do so, but part of that support involves a level of tolerance, not being happy about being stuffed 1-5 but acknowledging that in order to get where we are now we had to have been quite good for a large part of this season. I was going to name a few players from the relegation era as examples of those that would not doubt have been chastised and regularly criticised by these boards had either these boards been around then, or those players been around now. But that would be massively unfair on them. For some people being a "supporter" seems to be the opportunity to direct criticism to one team. Nobody is happy with our current form and some of our performances, but we are a better than the recent results suggest and other teams around us have had the benefit of decisions/results going for them when they haven't been been playing well... and we can still qualify for the CL. All I'm asking for is a bit of perspective. COYS.
i might be mad, but i still think we can get third place, just one good performance and the confidence will come flooding back
That's the spirit! The Goons are pretty down about last night and if that feeds through to the team, they could struggle. I have to say, for the record, that Wigan were superb last night. I don't think Arsenal were terrible, just came up against a team that played really well.
Very well said. Even people who have been calling for Harry's head, wanting half the team sold and Ledley turned into cheap sausages should applaud that post. Today we'll all be gutted (including me and probably vimhawk) if we don't finish top four. Two years ago we were delighted when we did cos it was such a massive achievement, even though Man City were half the team they are today. That's progress. I feel incredibly despondent after Sunday. But we've got to have a bit of perspective FFS!
I would go for: Friedel Rose Nelson Walker Benny Lennon Parker Modric VDV Bale Ade Bench:Gomes, Saha, Sandro, king, Giovani, Livermore, Kaboul
what we must realise is as sad as it is, Ledley is'nt as mobile as he once was,so pacey striker's will take advantage of that
