<grr> Why won't they just lie down and die? It'll be the same next season - terrible football with no goals for 30 games, and then suddenly play good football just in the nick of time.

All credit to Roberto Martinez if they stay up. They're probably on borrowed time, but this is a clinic in playing on the counter at the moment. Entertaining game.

Nah, pretty sure they have played good football all season.

I wouldn´t have put it so bluntly but I agree with what you are saying.

I used to detest Wigan and hated watching them, mostly at the DW stadium, simply because their pitch used to be an absolute state and it was impossible for teams to play decent football on it but since they have sorted that out I don´t dislike them as much.
I do agree that they score very few goals and don´t play very attract football but they always seem to pick up points when everyone thinks they are destined to go down and they deserve credit for that. They are a team with a very small budget and fan base but they have stilled managed to survive more than just a couple of years in the prem. It will be amazing if they do end up beating Arseanal because they beat Man U and only lost to Chelsea because the ref wouldn´t let them win. However, if they don´t go down this season then next season will definitely be their last. Well, I said that last season too.

If they win, apparently this will be the first time since 2001 when a team has won consecutive games against Man U and Arsenal - that was done by Saints!

I can tell this like/dislike feature is not going to play out well for me <laugh>

First team since Southampton in 2001 to beat Manchester United and Arsenal in consecutive matches!
