Can LincolnSaint be barred for a short while to prevent his depressing negativity from bringing everyone else down?

We've won 4 of the last 5 away from home (I think?) so no reason why we can't get wins from the next 2 away games. Maybe the pressure of the home crowd is getting to the players? Either way, we won at Leeds without deserving it among a few other results we perhaps got lucky on. Not gonna let this result ruin my lives like a few people (e.g. that crying man in the ground...HAHA what a wimp!!!)

I do find it highly ironic and amusing, considering how dire we were away from home from September to December, that should we get over the line it will have been our away from that does. (Both due to the recent away from that you mention and that we'd presumably have picked points up over these final two away games, if we've got over the line).

Ok swindon saint, you may find my posts depressing- however the simple matter is we were not good enough last night, or in my opinion against the skates and blackpool. If you and other fans want to keep their red&white specs on and think everything is just tickety-boo thats up to you

Fair point tbd. It wasnt just last night which pissed me off i think its the fact we now have a massive fight on our hands for second place, and think that we have been quite poor in our last 4 games. Ok we beat palace, but the other results make me believe we bottled it.

Yeh I agree it would be nice to be in Readings position and have it all but sewn up. The fact is if this was the old days of Lowe etc. I would be worried but the club at the moment has a composure about it self. Nigel is a genious in that he actually sticks to what he says about not getting to low or high that gives the players some consistency, in a way it will be a bost to get this game over with now they can focus on peterborough. win that and cov and were up, if we loose against peterborough I may start to get abit twitchy!

Also lets be fair to Lincolnsaint hes clearly a passionate saints fan like all of us hes got an opinion why should he not be allowed to share it. Posters who have an opinion and can defend it and see other points of view are what makes a forum interesting so I dont think we should be asking for bans for anyone except wums.

Yeah, sorry if i pissed anyone off. Im just a right moody git because of the last couple of weeks of football. Think we will all have to agree to disagree. <ok>

Everyone has their own opinions, never say sorry for voicing yours. If people don't like it then it's up to them.

I haven't bothered to read through all of these posts - like Joe, I prefer to stay away from the internet for a bit, after we've lost. Too many people over-reacting - so apologies if I'm about to repeat what someone else has said.

I great point was made to me whilst I was walking back to the car last night. We only effectively dropped one point last night. ONE! Is this seriously anyone on here who would not have taken a point last night (though I'm not including that select group of "fans" that we have - those people who are along the same sort of lines of that Leeds "fan" who started a thread on here last night)? I'd have snatched your hand off for a point, and I've always said that. So the fact that we've lost, really does only mean that we're just one point worse off than where I wanted to be.

I've never, ever, ever understand why so many of us have been so hung up on the title. And amazingly, that it includes some of the really decent, down to earth, friendly posters on here. Who cares if it's first or second, who cares! Both get you automatic promotion. Please don't anyone tell me that you'd be disappointed to finish 2nd this season.

We were brilliant last night, The best we've played at home for a long, long time. But we lost, and more than that, we conceded three goals. Who was the last side to score three goals at St Marys? (Bristol Rovers in the league, Pompey in the cup, I think). And for that, you have to praise. I'm confident that we'd have beaten any of the other 22 sides last season with that performance, but it wasn't good enough to beat Reading. That's not our fault, that's well done Reading. Blackpool, West Ham, Leeds, Brighton, Saints. 15 points out of 15. Sensational. They deserve automatic promotion, they deserve the title. If our players are at all deflated after last night - and I'm sure they are - all Nigel has to do is stick up a list of Reading's results in the past three months (and especially the last three weeks), and tell them that that is why they lost, not because they played badly.

PS. Come on Brighton!

Spot on. Nothing more needs to be said. <ok>

Personally, I'm more annoyed by the fact we've thrown away our chance to win a league. I still think we will go up but it will be a hollow victory. We deserved to win the division and now Reading will from just propping up the table playing some very mediocre football. The fact is it's been 35odd years since we won anything decent, we've had the chance to get a trophy and we've ****ed it up. We might not get a chance for a trophy for 10 more years, Instead we will be in mid-table in the premiership and hoping we get the odd decent result against Arsenal or United. Brilliant.

Another more factual point by the way. Robert's was turning Fonte and Hooiveld inside out last night. He can't even get in the Blackburn squad...

Flooders, you cannot possibly be serious. Getting to the Prem is the prize, not winning the league title. Whatever we do next season will not be affected in the slightest whether we come first or second, or, God forbid, we win the playoffs. Just to underline that, QPR, who won the Championship by a mile last season, are currently 2 points above the relegation zone, and Swansea, who had to win the playoffs, are comfortably mid-table.

Totally agree .

Lincoln saint has posted for a LONG time , and as far as I am aware has never insulted other posters , he IS passionate & he does have the right to express his opinions as we all do .

Why exactly do we deserve to win the title? Just because we STARTED the season like a house on fire, and have therefore had those points on the board to soften the blow of when we've slipped up since then, does not mean that we've been the best team. The side who wins the division is the side who will have deserved it.

Purely because we've played the best football, been there the whole season and never changed our style. Reading have just come from nowhere and with the help of an on loan striker have gone and pretty much clinched the title, not playing that much decent football from what i've seen. They have been poor against many teams but just gotten extremely lucky whenever coming up against decent opposition like last night.

They have NOT just come from nowhere , credit where it's due .

They lost in the play off final last year , had a wobbly start to this season and are where they are NOW on MERIT .

God forbid the worst happens and we lose in the playoff final , I would be Dreaming if I thought 12 months down the line we would be where they are now !!!!!

Mate.... where have you been for the last 7 years? I'll take the mid table Premiership and hoping for the odd result against united right now please!

Arsenal played better football than Chelsea or Utd for years, but not once did I think they deserved the title more than Chelsea or Utd.

We've been there all season because, as I've already said, we had a lightening start. I don't know the stats, but I'd expect that we picked up roughly as many (or rather, as few) points in November and December as Reading did in August and September. But just because August and September are the first two months, Reading's poor form was more visible. The league table at that time exactly replicated the form table. You can't punish or belittle Reading just because their patchy spell was at the start. And remember, they had just lost in the play-offs. It's hardly surprising that it took them a litle bit of time to get over that.

Roberts isn't on loan, he was a free transfer.

Jeez, to beat Blackpool, West Ham, Leeds, Brighton, and Saints all in a row, they must be one seriously lucky team. Or actually maybe just be better than them? They have the best defence for a reason.
