Jayram gets too much stick from his own fans.
Yes, he probably did go over the top when Arsenal were in the mire, and we know that because us Spurs fans knew full well (despite what we all might have said in jest) that they wouldn't be floundering for very long. And, we all wanted Whinger to get sacked, because we all know that Arsenal would be weaker for it.
But I think Jayram was simply more susceptible to frustrations than other AFC fans.
Also, I can distinctly recall that Jayram had at least as many people who supported his views than who supported PESKIE. Indeed, at one stage, PESKIE almost had a revolt on his hands, with many people calling for him to step down as a mod.
Passion is all part of the game. It would be a poorer world if we all supported our team with the same degree of dispassion as a Chelsea-supporting, champagne-drinking, cucumber-eating, business executive, who buys a box and only ever goes to one game each year.
I think i just have higher expectations than quite a few - but not all. I consider this season a poor one. We were out of every trophy at an early stage and once again will be trophyless. We've had the same issues for 4 seasons but they have been slowly getting worse. Throw in some obvious errors by Wenger in the transfer market and its not surprising that many would be negative. The AST survey shows that many fans are disgruntled, with a trend moving towards Wenger out.
We are however improving - and like our own Martin Keown said, I am more confident now about the team than at any other point in the last 4 years.
I prefer to raise the issues - as opposed to looking at the world through tinted specs. I do admit (and have admitted in the past) that I will take an extreme view on particular subjects to create debate and sometimes the debate is good. Other times we get some children throwing their toys out of the pram - "How dare you criticise our God Arsene".
Some fans have gone as far as to say that despite no success in 7 years Wenger is doing a brilliant job. The excuse is often money, which was never even mentioned when we were winning and competing against a club with far more money than us. Another fan even called this season brilliant! The facts never get considered - and that is since the move to the new stadium from year one we have had more money than at any time during our Highbury years.
Of course when a mod wants to cover up any issues and hide people's opinions, it leads to false accusations of comments (usually with a spin on what was actually said - recently another poster was accused of calling for Allerdyce to replace Wenger in a bid to discredit him, when in fact he never said anything more than he had no problem with Allerdyce style of football and could live with him being manager), changed comments (actually going into someone else's comment and changing it from having a go at a MOD's behaviour to saying they support them!), deletions, banning, deleting accounts 'by accident', merging unrelated threads and the general baiting you see whenever the team has a good result. The inherent need in some to be positive and 'right' - despite results - creates some odd and pretty poor behaviour. 'Lord of the Flies' behaviour.
There will always be factions both for and against an opinion - the small crowd of MODS and a few of their gang that can be found chatting in the 'Calling all Gooners' thread tend to be the ones that will attack like a pack of wolves at any sign of criticism. No debate - just attacks and then constant baiting, spoiling for another argument.
The group that debate properly and talk about the actual issues holding us back as a club have come to accept the behaviour and just get on with it. I've even started arguing less with Piskie, though not stopped completely yet
.Overall, I am about the most passionate Arsenal fan you could get, and am hurt when we fail, and elated when we win. I hated being so far below Spurs this season and hate that you have closed the gap, but am loving that we have gained the upper hand again. Pretty simple really.
The failed logic that you can't enjoy good times if you criticise in the bad times is just another example of the kind of methods used by a few to discredit. The fact it makes no sense is not really considered.
