Before yesterdays game I wanted us to go all out for 7th, well I still want us to go all out but is it now time to relax and party? Our remaining games are Wolves/Bolton/Man U at home and Villa/Fulham away. Wolves and Bolton should be games for us to enjoy, Villa and Fulham I feel may be typical end of season games and Man U could be a cracking party. Now then I hear you ask, party, what party, what have we to celebrate? A decent end of season position. A top manager. A good summer. A new season to look forward to with some real hope. I see 8 more points this season leaving us on 50 points, missing out on 7th but maybe 9th or 10th.
You changed it around? Anyhow..... As I was going to say, You've just woken up then Syd. I've been positive since the 3rd December. A day that will live long in the memory. The past 20 weeks or so while not everyday memorable, the lasting impression given the overall results excites me for the next season already.
I think it is time to party...well not really party, just be happy that we have MON and we are not battling relegation still. I think the next 5 games should be used to experiment, and test the credentials of other players. We have Wolves, Bolton at home. These games we should win, especially at home. Man Utd game I think will be like a pre-season friendly, as IMO they will have won the league by then. Also I think the Fulham game will be similiar. The Villa game MON will be up for it, as will the players. They will also be battling relegation so could be the most interesting game. I'm just looking forward to the summer
I don't want us partying yet, I'd rather we aimed for as many points in our remaining games as we can get. 10th or above would be a great achievement when you consider where we were before December, if we had stuck with Bruce I'm certain we would be in the bottom 3, perhaps heading into the championship. As for next season we seem to have to accept a 6 pts handicap before we start that's due to the fact Everton will be in the same league. Any chance they can be thrown out!!!
Im really looking forward to next season, but im sot expecting the players to let up. Theres pride at stake and cash in the bank the higher we finish. there are winnable games coming up and I would think MON will be pushing as hard as he can. Short has backed the manager every year but nows the time to show that this manager is different and worth backing
Not exactly party time but seeing how survival was MON's stated aim, I'd say he's done rather well. Unfortunately many Sunderland fans wouldn't be happy if we finished second in the league...If Newcastle were to finish top.
Although getting beat is never good I can't say I was too bothered yesterday. Our season is over and personally I can't wait to see what MON can do in the summer, the recent noises from the SOL certainly sound promising. I don't mind the Mags having their day in the sun...First time in four years bless em. Next year we'll make it one in five.
The sad thing about the visiting mags is we have been saying nice things about them for some time, the regulars know that but the visitors are so far up their own arse they missed it all.
Hmm, really happy that MoN is here and any fears of relegation are banished, team yesterday too knackered and too toothless to score, Sess is good but we probably all agree is is not the out and put striker we need. In fact we have needed since the days of Bent, Gyan and Welbeck. The mags have Ba and Cisse and their results are transformed football is after simple, score goals and do not concede any..bliss. So not quite party time but a certain sense of satisfaction that the season did not turn put disastrous.
Thats what the ignore button is for, I suggest people use it. Its ok, it can easily be taken off next season and hopefully we will be able to give them some back.
considering our start to the season, 10th would be good? What did you expect us to end up when MON took over? I am pretty sure MONs only mandate when he took over was "ease relegation fears" which he has done, and more besides.
I'm sure that at the start of the season we had been offered top ten and a quarter final cup game we would have taken it, MON did this half a season.
10th is fine...It's the same as last year, maybe still manage a place higher... But in recent months some have been getting slightly carried away on just how far he can take this inherited squad.. I personally think there will be more changes in the summer than some expect.......
We will see, but I agree that we might not see this form (with current squad) taken over to next season. I might be wrong, but I think MON has got the current players playing at 120%, and which is why they are burning out when not having enough time to recover between games. With the current squad, I reckon a top 10 place again next season would be reasonable. Add 4 new players (strikers, and a couple of defenders) to that, and we should be playing for a top 8.
