I give MON and the team loads of praise for the good things they do, today MON got it wrong and the team where absolute rubbish. Down to 10th and lucky to be there on that showing.
Syd I suppose we could have made a couple more changes for the starting line up, but honestly one year on do Ji and Wickham still have potential?
Rubbish today, its like Bruce is back in charge with people playing out of position and a far too defensive formation. I am not happy at all, we have lost what was a decent goal difference as well. MON got it completely wrong today.
Poor performance all round. The lack of a decent set of strikers was one of the myriad of reasons for why Bruce was sacked. The depth and quality of our strikers is embarrassing. I fully expect this to be rectified during the summer.
I would say Ji is a definite no but Wickham I still don't know. I know Sess cant play as a lone striker so someone needed to be up there to help him, he was wasted today. We have Wickham, Richardson and Mclean who could have been up there. Players looked tired and not up for it so I just am not a happy bunny.
Possably too many games played in a short period, with a bigger squad you can accomodate that, but for tv purposes a bigger squad is esential. but Mystic Bill called that one wrong, or someone who shall remain annonymous, had a bet.
Ji and Wickham not even playing and they are the scapegoats? How'd that happen? Players out of position? Who? Colback was the only one who started out of position. Gardner forced into RB when Bardo off injured. Both Colback and Gardner have done a good job at full back this season when called on to do so. How should of O'Neil started the game? With Ji on from the start? if not, who? I hate it when we aren't given credit for playing opposition off the field, and Everton seem to know how to deal with us and stop us playing our game. 90% Credit has to go to Moyes and Everton here. Larsson underperformed badly, I can only remember him being involved in one attack today. O'Neil has done the best possible with the team he inherited from Bruce. O'Neil needs to go out and get 2 forwards this summer, I am sure he knows Sess upfront by himself is a poor option but he obviously thinks it was his only option today.
It wasn't MON fault it was Syds i told him not to put a 10nner on us to win, put the kibosh on it, Mon cant do anything when Syd has a bet its fate.
The obvious problem is that we have a squad with a set of strikers that arn't good enough. We entered the season without adequate depth and quality. Due to that reason we played 4-5-1 today. Bendtner injured... O'Neill clearly thinks the other strikers are so poor that he wouldn't play them from the start. Heck, even Bruce wouldn't play these buffoons and he brought them in, at a cost of £10 million plus... Embarrassing. Looking forward to the summer and a few changes in the striking and midfield department.
For all the good Mon has brought to us so far this season these blips in performance are becoming a bit worrying. We have some very average players in the middle of the park when arguably are best cm at the moment is playing left back. Sess CAN NOT play as a lone striker and Mon got it wrong today. We ended up playing hoofball to a midget which was just embarrassing.
Sess was out of position as a lone striker, Colback out of position at LB, these are things Bruce got slaughtered for, it should be the same for MON. I agree that its unfair to blame Ji and Whickham as they did not get enough time on the pitch to really show what they can do, especially when were already losing.
There is being stopped by a team (Us stopping Man City or Spurs) and there is playing ****. Awful performance, I'd love (or hate) to see our pass completion rate for that game. Sess playing up front on his own was ridiculous, but if we don't score we can't let the oppositon score FOUR goals, their previous largest margin of victory was TWO. So pissed off right now
Sorry Dan but credit when its due and criticism when its deserved. How should MON have started the game, thats what he gets paid to decide but we all know that starting with Sess as lone striker does not work. Tired after to many games, Bridge, Richardson and Wickham are 3 who have not had to many games. I'm not having a go at MON I am having a go at the team, including the manager who picks them, he and they got it wrong, 4-0 would suggest I am right.
Wickham wasn't too bad for me - Ji is a "lets open up sales in korea" signing - the players did look tired though the 5 changes Everton made probably freshened them up. The game that we play involves a lot of physical effort closing the opposition down so for me 2 games in 2 days will effect teams who play with that style worse than a passing team. However there is no excuse for playing sess up front himself
No point playing Sess up top on his own with minimal support, if he insists on playing Sess there Kieran would've been a far better option than Gardner. Bridge should have gone LB and Colback in the middle with Cattermole
What was his options up front? 2, relatively, untested forwards or Sess up front by himself. Sess by himself has worked for MON before.
