I believe it's called a Black box because the inventor of it had the surname Black.
So rather than be called a Black Box, it should be called a Black Box

It's got nothing to do with anyone called Black, it's just a term used to describe a device that transfers data(The bloke that came up with the concept was actually a German mathematician called Wilhelm Cauer).

Really a Black Box is a sealed thing. You stick the input in at one end, get the output at the other, but have no idea what's going on inside it.
