BfB - the possibility of not making the playoffs has always been there mate, it's the decline from the previous probability of making the playoffs over this past 3 months that's pissing off of many on here.

Expectations at the turn of the New Year were justifiably high, and you can't blame anyone for thinking maybe we really can do it this year. The article question asked by Swampy "where has all gone wrong" runs parallel to my article asking for a reason(s) why.

We don't expect the club to make public any behind the scenes financial manouvering going on for the lack of action in Jan/Feb to support the fantastic first half of the season, but a little more transparency wouldn't go amiss regarding why. Directors, management and players closing ranks is all very laudable, but those who attend the games are paying to watch this recent decline.

I can appreciate that a number of posters on here go to the CCS (and Ninian before) just to support the team and enjoy a game of football, but is there anything wrong with wanting to win the bloody game and get up the table as well?

Like many, I've lived through the lows more often than I've enjoyed the highs with this club over the years, but FFS, we've become known as bottlers toward the end of the season - looks like we started early this year to me - about 4 months early.

Like you though - I'll still be there until the end. :emoticon-0105-wink:

I'm just being my usual, pragmatic realist self. After the disappointments of recent years I have tried to avoid getting hyped up this season as I don't want the lows of the last 3 summers (and neither does my wife <yikes>). Your differentiation between possible and probable is quite correct and looking overall at this thread the great majority have posted well thought out views from all sides of the spectrum.

Too true regarding transparency of our financial position, the lack of dealings in the 2 windows and the way forward. When Gethin was CEO we were given much clearer pictures of what was going on. It could be the Malaysians took a different view on what was officially published (and that was one of the reasons he left) and the vow of silence is being rigidly enforced from top to bottom. Good if it prevents hijacking of incoming transfers but not so good when nothing appears to have happened and we get treated like mushrooms.

Perhaps it will come out in the wash at the end of the season although I doubt it.

As for the "bottlers" jibe, at least we have had a bloody good long swig on the liquid holder this year so the shocks and surprises of previous years aren't there.

we have no divine right 2get promotion and if small minded people think we are bottlers then thats fine..............myself i couldnt give a fook what people say.we will get there ive got no doubt about that and maybe this year when we may get into the playoffs is the year when we didnt expect anything and got the full monty.

but if that doesnt happen then my support for the club will not waver

Aber - small minded people they may be mate, but the bottler's tag is starting to get a ring of truth about it.

I've got no delusions about having some sort of divine right to get promo, but that doesn't alter where we're going now as opposed to where we were 3 months back - downhill fast is the answer.

If we do make the top 6 and get a shot at it again, it'll wouldn't surprise me at all if we got to Wembley this time and won it. If we don't, it doesn't mean that those who question the goings on at the club are any less committed than you.

As for unwavering support, count me in for the past 40 years pal, though I doubt I'll get another 40 in..........<laugh>

ofcourse im gonna question peoples opinions on my club but that doesnt mean im one sided and only see through blinkers, you and others are entitled 2 your opinions but im not sure the negative feeling from the fans has been the best way 2 show the team support................i never put them down for not getting results....why!!!..................because its just a game and one im not involved in..........i go for the social always have and always will the football on the pitch is second place for me dude.

ps when i was a kid the results did matter, now well i dont stress over spilt milk tbh,ive got much more important things going on in my life.

I am not a Malky fan and questioned his appointment. I have also said if he doesn't move us forward this year he will have failed., that was part of his appointment.
The mass exodus of players ensured he could bring in new players without worrying too much about moving anyone out, if I recall Chops was sold when we had no manager! So I believe the purse strings are not as loose as we may like to think.
Having said that I think Malky did a great job up to the Christmas period as did the players. Those of you that are lucky enough to get to live matches regularly report back on the standard of the players and how they are progressing. From those reports it is clear the team is not good enough without bringing others in. Your no criticising your offering your opinion on the smallish squad that we have.
There is still everything to play for, a top 6 finish is still achievable and I will be listening in to hear the boys get us to that play off spot.

As a footnote: Is March the new November? :(

you summed it up by saying everything is still 2play for taff....................what more can we ask from a manager who`s just starting the job.........yeah and im mean just starting the job on hand.............2many managers are sacked by fans who want instant success and put pressure on boards 2get rid.

in this day and age sir alex would never have got the chance 2 be one of the most decorated managers in english footballs history.......just saying like <cheers>

Yep, some of the sackings in recent years were strange. Allardyce at Blackburn, Hughton st Newcastle and Clarke at Huddersfield spring to mind. Having said that DJ was with us for 6 years but it was his time to move on.

Hang on a minute. Who's said anything about sacking Malky for fcks sake! The thread is inviting discussion about our club and the circumstances we find ourselves in going into April after such a good first half of the season.

Some posters are getting ahead of the discussion here - if that's the way a decent thread and requested comments are interpreted, then I'm off.

    Cheers.

sparkey i think your taking it personal dude im not attacking you for claiming the manager needs sacking......what i am stating is this is the start of the process which leads 2fans jumping on the band wagon and starting 2be more vocal against the team at any failed play at any minute of the game.......ive heard cardiff fans starting 2boo the lads from ten minutes on.......but im a big believer in the game being played over 90minutes and i dont care when the goal comes,if it doesnt then yeah you are dissapointed but it aint the end of the world.

And its been so doom and gloom on yuh lately i thought id lighten the mood with my cancer thread.im a big believer also of negative energy not being good for those around you......so wether its us rubbing off on the players or players rubbing off on us it doesnt fill there air with confidence, then its no wonder we aint scored many of late.

if you refer to me sparkey then i apologise m8 <ok>

i just find it baffling how we can go from rejoicing at how well the players / manager have done to being down in the dumps about football matters lol, it must only happen here tbh ;)

iv said it before and ill say it again, cardiff are a good team but are 3 or 4 players short of being a great team. i am confused about these malaysians though as they are suppose to be billionaires and money for players would be small change to them, yet overall have not put that much into the club, the interest alone they must make every day would be astronomical......

i dont think your far wrong there dai,but im not sure why being a wealthy owner he should just flitter his money away, you dont get that rich for being silly with money thats for sure...........my thoughts are that while reducing the debts as slowly as they can, that they do have a plan with malky and this will be done sensibly over the years he has on his contract.and after years of sam splashing cash on our credit card this should be more healthy way 2 go about it slowly and surely, without breaking our back.
