Silver, although you appear to have sabotaged your own bandwagon, I agree with the penultimate sentence of your comment:

"It's old news now, and those newspapers are already wrapping chips, so what difference does it really make?"

Didn't Webber get "pretty much slaughtered by the British gutter press" who "described him as a 'whinger'"?

Hooray I've put some life back into this forum as it was very quiet for the past 3-4 days.

Don't think anybody else jumped on the same boat when it came to Webber. The worldwide media and it's readers slagged off Lewis and Vettel for their gaffs, while only papers "likely the sun or the mirror" attacked Webber.

But you'd agree that Webber didn't "get away with" it? As I said earlier, I've trawled through the media outlets you mentioned and can't find any of them slagging off Vettel. They do quote other drivers like Hulkenberg and Petrov but don't (as far as I can see) offer their own opinion. The Sun's circulation is around 3 million copies, I think - it's the best-selling paper in the UK.

Agree Webber didn't get away with it with the British press. But it was forgotten 2 years later and people would now say "good for him speaking his mind". So will the same happen with Vettel and Lewis come 2013-2014? I'm a bit mixed on that assumption as Vettel and Lewis are higher profile in the F1 media. Lewis with Monaco 2011 are still fresh in my mind, all those "frickings" have scarred me for life.

Me: "No brother dont listen to Lewis!!!!!"

    Him: "What's a Ali G?"

    Me: "NOOOOOOOOO!"

Vettel's comments will be forgotten by the end of the Chinese GP if you don't keep bringing it up. <laugh> It's not a big deal.

So that's what I've been doing wrong all these years?

I think you are on to something Genji.

Edit: Can you blame me genji, im at the bottom of the bucket here with F1 conversations.

Btw does anybody know the world record for the longest discussed F1 subject on a forum. Or was that already lost to Alonso vs Lewis 07?

Discussions about the existence of God and Jesus didn't last as long as that one

Then again, some would say the subject matter was the same...........

Webber bitches about everyone, and everything almost all the time, and rarely gets pulled up for it. I think it's mainly Brundles fault, he likes Webber and dislikes Vettel (it seems to me) and he gives the impression that Webber is always in the right and being hard done by by the people he's whinging about at that time. I remember him slating Vettel for setting a pointless fastest lap, then one minute later praising Webber to high heaven for the same thing, people slaughter Vettel for Turkey, yet Webber at Korea is hardly mentioned, Do you remeber that? that was when it appeared Webber decided to come back on the track and try to take out one of his WDC competitors after he'd ****ed up, but missed and ended Rosbergs race.

On an aside, Mark Webber moaning producesd 13.6 million results in google, I am not surprised.

Well Miggins, the topic of discussion is whether Karthikeyan should have had a penalty isn't it?

This has nothing to do with Webber. But it is certainly connected with Vettel, as well as Little Jack Horner and his puppet-master.

I know. I've done my best with pictures of Sauber floors and the Ferrauber and so on but such big gaps between races kill any interest in what's going on. Back-to-back races are great but if the consequence is a three-week gap I'd rather have them scheduled fortnightly.

The last page is about the difference in the public opinion with Vettel compared to Webber. On an aside I'm surprised you back Karthikeyan Cosi tbh, as a Race driving instructor I'm very surprised you accept his excuse, if he'd really lost the back of his car on the marbles and kerbs (which he didn;t even go on) would he really have moved 4 feet against the centrifugal force? I pretty sure the answer is no.

Really? That's awesome! What kind of class/vehicle/race type? If you can teach me how to 'race' through the morning traffic more efficiently, sign me up! :p

    But being serious, Miggie,
I must assume that you haven't paid much attention to this thread. My understanding is that cosi, just as my self, take no side in whose fault it was.

It is pretty clear to me that Karthikeyan did not intentionally drive in a way to deliberately make it difficult for Vettel to pass. In fact, he gave room, and then aimed at getting a toe, incidentally probably misjudging the distance to his fellow racer. However, it also looks pretty clear to me that Vettel himself could have given more room and used a bit more caution. I think it was a bit clumsy of them both drivers. The accident being a fairly minor one(compared to other incidents in todays F1), and as such, I too deem it to be a race incident.

Therefore I believe that the penalty on Karthikeyan, being unjust. Might just have been placed to satisfy the Vettel camp. After all, the penalty given, will undoubtedly affect Karthikeyan's next race to the minimal, if any at all.

And by the way, you seem very eager to drag in and to slander Webber at almost any opportunity that arise. Can't you just settle with being a happy Vettel fan and let those who supports Webber be a happy fan of him, and we can all walk into the sunset, happily united in our love for the sport?
