No, they tend to be good at stealing other peoples' ideas - Thomas Edison, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs...

7. It's the successful businessmen who put Bush in charge, because they wanted a moron-puppet they could easily manipulate.

The Americans are fairly simple in that regard. You usually know exactly where you stand. If you are successful, you're a he'll of a guy - and you'll be well rewarded. Fail, and you're a schmuck, and you're dead. I don't believe that The Septics will consider The Carling Cup as ample return on capital.

Dubyuh failed miserably in every business venture he ever had, then became President - he's a one-man wrecking ball for the notion of meritocracy in the USofA. As is Uwe Boll...

George w always had Daddy's money behind him. He could never be taken seriously as any kind of businessman. People like Henry are cut from an entirely different cloth!

To be fair, Comolli did better for us than a lot of people give him credit for.

Gareth Bale, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Adel Taarabt, Younes Kaboul, Luka Modrić, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Dimitar Berbatov.

That's some of the people he signed. Right now, we are where we are because of many of those players. Berbatov got us £20m profit, Bale and Modric are arguably our two best players, Kaboul and BAE are in our first choice back four. Plus Boateng has become a top talent at Milan, so there's obviously something about him!

Well thats not strictly true as players don't manage themselves so while if you must, give credit to Comolli for spotting the talent of Modric, Berba & Bale as it would have taken a genius to spot them (sarcasm)....BAE & Kaboul maybe more are good shouts for his talent spotting.

As for the "prince" from what I saw, he was never suited to the English game.

Also, as has been pointed out above, the buys at Liverpool don't do him any favours, if you want to look at his overall record.

Darren bent? signing a striker for 16.5 Million which at the time caused a major problem for Jol as it was quite clear we didn't need Bent as we already had Berba, Keane & Defoe. From what I remember the excuse was Bent was signed as they believed Berba would leave yet we signed a player that couldn't have been more of an opposite and couldn't form a partnership with any of the strikers, if Berba left - that to me isn't great forward thinking.

Actually, now we think about it, thats 16.5 million for Darren bent, 35 Million for Andy Carrol, 9 million for Charlie Adam and £20 million for Jordan Henderson, giving a grand total of £80.5 million - is that something to be proud of, for someone you reckon "has something about him".

As has been mentioned before, Comolli doesn't buy bad players for the most part, he just overpays and doesn't bring in the players that you need.
He didn't go for the right people for Jol when he was at Spurs and it looks like he's done the same with Dalglish and Liverpool.

Downing and Carroll should be a very dangerous combination, though.
From what I've seen, Liverpool have tended to either play the former on the wrong side or not have both on the pitch at the same time.
I think that they'd make a pretty potent Plan B, but should you really spend £55m on two back-up players?

Clearly with the money spent they were meant to be first team regulars but had it have been successful there was no backup for them. They only have the one winger in their squad and one big forward so if one got injured the team would have to change the way they played again. If it had worked, that is.
