Akpan looked assured on the ball sitting in front of the back four. Gets into space well and doesnt like to pass back like people get on Harpers back for.
Took his goal well, powerful header from a corner. All in all a decent run out and would have done well playing the role chester did at weekend.

Do you think he could be ready for the 1st team sometime soon?

Im not sure to be honest, depends on what formation we play. If we played the formation like we did vs Norwich I think he could have played where Chester did and done a job. He has a solid first touch and good vision playing a superb cross field ball in the second half.

The only thing thats concerning me is that Gateshead gave us so much time on the ball tonight that its hard to say how he'd cope being closed down as quickly as players are in the championship.

We had a lad on trial as well if anyones interested, Rory Deacon http://www.arsenal.com/reserves-youth/players/roarie-deacon He played on the wing and looked useful, did a few decent things on the ball although drifted in and out a bit. Not sure what the idea is, as i doubt we'll make any more loans, maybe hes getting released at end of the season or something and its similar to the akpan deal.

Argh just noticed he was mentioned on another thread I only just saw! Sorry to repeat. Also although Gateshead didnt exactly offer too much offensively, must say I'm generally impressed with Wilkinson and Bradley whenever I watch the reserves and think they could do with a loan spell somewhere to move them on to the next level.

Keeper wasnt tested that much, but what he had to do he did pretty well. Got praise from the crowd on a few occaisions and has a good kick on him for a small-ish keeper.

Could do with a hair cut mind, worried his fringe would obstruct his vision :emoticon-0102-bigsm
