View attachment 11790 vs Once again the Addicks fans face a Tuesday night down the Valley as table toppers Charlton Athletic take on a mid table side in the form of Yeovil Town. The Addicks have now gone 3 games in the league without a win and only managed a 1-1 draw with S****horpe on the weekend. Bradley Wright-Phillips opened the scoring but Charlton were pegged back before half time with Jon Parkin slotting home a spot kick. Yeovil however managed to come from behind to beat Walsall 2-1 at Huish Park, Andy Williams scoring two goals for the home side. Boxing day was the last time these to sides met and it was a great game for anyone who made the journey down to Yeovil. The game was settled in the last minute when Danny Green scored a 90th minute winner to send Charlton back up to London with all 3 points. Jon Obika put yeovil ahead early on with a bicycle kick. This was cancelled out by Danny Hollands before again Yeovil took the lead this time from defender Paul Huntington. Yann Kermogant levelled with a greatly taken freekick before Danny Green won all 3 points with his injury time winner. Yeovil have been in good form of late and although they were in the reglation places at the end of 2011. Since the turn of the year their form has drastically improved and they currently sit in 14th place with a total of 46 points from their 37 matches. They are currently unbeaten in their last 5 games taking an impressive 13 points. It's also worth noting that 10 points separates them from both the playoff places and the relegation places. However I don't expect it to be easy. Yeovil will feel they can get something from this game as they are in good form and we seem to look average at best at the moment. That being said I can see us knicking it maybe 1-0 or 2-1 with a hard fought display from our defence having finally got their act together. Bradley Wright-Phillips to bag the winner. I'm also going to give a guess for the attendance and say 13,064
If we had Yeovil's points return from our last five games we'd be promoted by now. I'm not even going to predict the outcome. If we don't win we are officially in the squeakiest bum time ever. Won't be there as I'm away on business. Probably just as well!
PS. Belv. Good thread as always. Pritchard is so good you've named him twice! I'd play the usual back 5, Hughes Stephens, Green JJ (if fit, Waggy if not) kermit and bwP. But it won't happen. Hughesy won't get a sniff and I'll bet lee cook starts. Probably a good job I'm not going to be there.
I know i dont need to say it, but this game will be the one which will either take away our fears, or provide us with nail-biting finish to the season. As someone else said, i dont think the Sheffileds are even looking to catch us - they feel they are just fighting for P2, 1 more win tomorrow and points dropped by another will virtually guarantee promotion at least.
Agree about the importance of tomorrow. The psychology of three home defeats on the bounce doesn't bear thinking about. We need more than one win. I think wendies will go on a decent run now. I want to win this thing. Not just scrape over the line in second.
Great job again!! Tough game, what happened the last time we played a form team at the valley It will be tricky, but again, a game we should(!!!) win. That said I can see a draw. 1-1
Ahhh didnt see this after copying and pasting team from previous thread I'll change it to Russell on the bench!
Very hard game coming up, I agree AllHell but I'm going for the same scoreline - 2-1 to us and the rest fighting for the places. Lovely job again, Belvedere.
Good job, Belv. We shall win 8-0 tonight. At the start of the season, Tewks and I agreed that Yeovil could be the surprise package for the season. They certainly have good players and have been very unlucky at times. It is too late for them to make a run at the play-offs, but had Skiverton stepped aside earlier, I believe they would be around 7th or 8th under GJ's stewardship.
Hamer Solly Morrison Taylor Wiggins Wagstaff Pritchard Hollands N'Guessan Wright-Phillips Kermogant 5-0 to the mighty addicks!!
I would imagine the only point of disagreement would be the midfield, and my 4 would be: Waggy;Pritchard;Stephens;Evina. The first name would be Pritchard because I love his commitment and hunger and he's not a bad player either. Then Stephens because in the second half against County when he moved further forward he showed what a quality player he is. Then Evina(assuming JJ is injured) because to me he looks a better LM than LB. And on the right well Waggy is the man in possession. For this particular game I think we can do without an out-and-out defensive midfielder. Pritchard is a box-to-box player and that would do for me.
Elsewhere Sheff Utd are away to Notts County and Sheff Weds have Walsall at home seeing as both are 9 points behind us now lets hope one of them drops points. The gap between us and third has decreased dramatically in recent weeks and ideally it will be 12 again come full-time tonight
