But if he was lent out to a club where he will play for 90 minutes, doesn't that mean he might get injured? Wouldn't it better to bring him on as a sub to rest the top two once the games are won? We don't want to risk players this close to the end of the season. Hopefully neither Seaborne nor Martin will need to play a full match, fingers crossed!

They would probably have to fork out a massive wedge for him. We won't just let him go.

Why wouldn't we just let him go ? We're not going to get a great deal for him if we did sell him, he's only got a year left on his contract.

If it was in everyone's best interests, I can see his contract being ended a year early by mutual consent, allowing him to join the Grecians on a free. This is very possible in my opinion.

Not sure I would want to leave Southampton to join Exeter even if they were my boyhood club etc. I can't see him going on loan right now, particularly as we do not have huge numbers of centre backs.

Thank god you're not in charge of our club, or any business. You would be bankrupt within a year.

I second that Gordon,
Believe me when i say clubs from the Championship would buy him at a drop of a hat if they knew he was leaving,
there were plenty there watching the other night and i am sure if he gets his way he will be off on loan to get match fit.
He does have lots of friends in and around Exeter/Devon but he is far to good to drop (with all due respect to Exeter fans i know) to drop back to that level.

Explain the reason behind your comment. With regard to Seaborne, we would get no more than £100,000 for him if we sold him as he's out of contract in a years time and he's not likely to play in the first team. So if we released him, we'd be making a saving on wages. Good business if you ask me.

As for lots of Championship clubs chasing him, I doubt it very much as he's not proven in the Championship.

Exactly. Daft comment to make about a poor bit of business, we would be losing less money in the long term.

No it really isn't a stupid comment. There is no doubt he would be on a lesser wage if he was to go to Exeter so Saints would either have to pay up the rest of his contract in full, or pay a subsidy on his next contract. The expenditure wouldn't disappear it would show up elsewhere on the balance sheet.

Not if the contract was ended mutually, as SG made clear

It does amaze me how some fans are when they decide in their head a player a player is no good or not good enough.
So in two sentences he goes from a free to Exeter to no more than a hundred thousand.
You certainly don't run a business and you certainly don't know much about our players and club.
As for your opinion about Not good enough for championship football as not proven tells me you know very little and we will all have to wait and see on the two different opinions we have.

You've missed the point mate. I can't be arsed to explain it again - Just read through the previous few posts.

Most young professional footballers would rather play football than sit back and collect money for nothing. Their working life is so short that they can't afford to miss any of it. A footballer who doesn't care if he plays or not lacks character. I suspect we won't see a lot of Seaborne, but he is only young and it's possible that Adkins may be able to work his magic.

I would rather be on the fringes/under contract and out on loan than take a wage cut to play in the lower leagues. You would be stupid not to.

I think Seaborne, having missed god knows how long, will be desperate to play whatever the money right now

i was just reading this and on the first page someone says that u don't improve at 25! we bought rickie lambert at 27 and he has improved every season at still is at 30
