The resemblence is uncanny, both lanky, awkward looking players. Wonder if Harper has any history of being Peter Taylor's sidekick :emoticon-0110-tongu

    Well put Benjo.<ok>

I must confess I slagged Harper off on this board on Saturday - wasn't at the match, but listened on Radio Norfolk. I was gutted by his miss of an open goal.

I support NP and his team selections (he does, after all, know a lot more about it than us critics - even if, at times, we feel the opposite).

Was just very disappointed that we didn't get 3 points!

We ARE still in the Play-offs battle (even if, in my opinion, we need another year of consolidation before we take the big step - again).

We do have short memories.....when you think about where we were in the first few weeks of this season!

    some rate him, some dont...
nigel does, so the people who rate him, should be pleased...doesnt mean those who dont should be attacked and criticised...
i find it interesting that the team is doing well , yet so many remain unconvinced...
people keep using the term scapegoat!...which to my basic knowledge of english means somebody to blame when things arent going right....well as things are going well, so i dont think scapegoat comes in to it....as there is no need to look for somebody to blame, yet his performances are still annoying a lot of people..

I have being both positive and negative with regards to us recently, that is mainly due to the fact that we may blow a chance to get into the play offs, this mainly down to the fact that the division will never be as poor as it is now. The division is only going to get harder so i can see why it is hard for some to be positive, for me i try to stay positive and i always will as i rate NP and AP and i see the team flourishing however it might be quite hard to get in the play offs next year.

Harper missed that easy chance so was scapegoated because of that, you could see that from the comments on here after the game, some of which were completely unfair. We had Kilbane, Folan, and Mcshane and others playing at the start of the season, good job this site wasn't up and running then because it would have been wall-to-wall moaning.

the miss didnt help..but i think he was pretty unpopular anyway..
names arent cheered at the start like they used to be,,..but theres still a little bit of noise usually for most players..
yet if you listen for harpers name, it just goes silent..and thats before a ball is kicked..

Harper gets criticism because he's ****. I don't see where the confusion is here.

I've mentioned masturbating twice, maybe three times on here. Admittedly 2 or 3 times more than average, but it's not a recurring theme in my posts.

Maybe not in your posts. Im giving up defending Harper except to say I agree with everything Pearson said today, as it was exactly what I was thinking. Pearson is going to be our best ever manager, uTT!

I wonder sometimes how many of u have played the bloody game?

You think Harper is crap because in truth most of our current players are young and technically talented.. Harper will be a scapegoat because if we're Hull City, North Ferriby or Barca the fans of which there is always a scattering of dickheads, always think they could perfect the team by replacing the worst player.

Get real some of you, who are you going to select instead? Cairney? - hasn't exactly set the world on fire has he without George there to hold his hand.. Belaid can't defend.. we're unlikely to see Hope Akpan given the responsibility at this stage of the season and at his age either.. and Barmby can't play 90 mins..

I like what NP said, I agee with the sentiment that Harper isn't the greatest midfielder we've ever seen but I draw the line with booing a player.. the ****ers who boo him should lick his boots clean..

You think Bullard gives as much effort as Harper?? as good as he is Harper actually cares about playing for Hull City.

Erm......I wonder if you could tell me who posted this earlier today?

"Harper's confidence is a bit short we need to play Cairney" :emoticon-0105-wink:

For the record, I would start Cairney too.

christ you're more efficient than the stasi!

    might have said that...

but but but... does Cairney really give us that much more than Harper?

he's obviously more talented but he's got to show more for me & I presume for big Nige too.. he's got to show he's much better not just a bit better..

I want to complain about the folk who moan about posters whinging about contributors sniping about others arguing about supporters criticising other fans disputes over disagreements over someone else's point of view that they diametrically oppose.

Cairney has been less than convincing this season, but he is certainly more talented than Harper and he's our only serious alternative. He hasn't really had a look in since we improved the squad(only two appearances in the past four months), so I'd like to see him given another try, after all, we've signed him until 2013, we might as well see what he can do.

We're talking about central midfield here so there's only really 4 roles he can be filling:

Defensive midfielder - he's lacking the tackles and positional discipline to be doing that job well.
Playmaker - he's lacking the passing ability.
Attacking midfielder - he doesn't go forward enough, or at least he doesn't score enough goals or get enough assists.
Box to box midfielder - for me they're supposed to do more than just run between the two boxes, so he's lacking the tackling and the attacking attributes required for this role.

If people, including NP want to say he's doing his job well then fine, but can at least one of them explain what job it is he's doing well? Then the people criticising him might be able to see what it is he's offering the team. And don't give me organisation, he was being selected whilst we had Ashbee playing and he was the one that sat there organising the team so why was Harper playing then?
