I see that Norway are amongst the nations having a go in Libya.

I hope that Norway does not get called up to go and service their aircraft, although they might be based somewhere warmer. ;)

I might have caught a glimpse of Frenchie in that movie Bolton

A glass of View attachment 1483 would go down nicely here though

Thanks for the Pathe News BB.<ok>

I don't think I was allowed to be taken to that game. Too many people for a little lad.:emoticon-0120-doh:

I do remember at one game all of the children were taken down to to front and looked through the railings. Until I went to the big boys school that was my favourite place, but then as I grew taller I ventured further up the Vic.Rd. terrace.

Football lost something when we stopped jostling with our neighbours on the terrace, opponents as well as home fans. One West Ham fan that I stood near one day was such a wag that the whole game people just laughed almost non stop throughout the ninety minutes.<laugh>

    What went wrong?

    Do sheep have rights?

Surely we are talking about droit de cuissage here. :(

I had to toddle along to my bank today to put some money into an account. Being a Monday the bank is not staffed, but you can transact most things by way of machines. This evening I read this on the BBC site.

Could John Shepherd-Barron, who invented the cash machine, ever have predicted that the idea he came up with while in the bath would become such a part of everyday life?

His cash machine was the first to be tested, ahead of other patented devices, at a hole-in-the-wall at a Barclays branch in Enfield in 1967.

The idea caught on and by the start of the 1990s, there were almost 20,000 cash machines in the UK.

At the last count there were 63,268 cash machines in the UK connected to the Link network - which covers virtually all of the country's ATMs.

When I first started banking, deposits and withdrawals were still recorded with a pen on paper.

OFH, I refer you to page 263 of 'My Life as a Sheep' by O Vine

"Broadly speaking the rights of sheep can be defined thus:

1 to bleat without fear of reprisal
2 to preserve sheep culture from goat incursions
3 to exclude mint sauce from their sight
4 to follow other sheep without fear of discrimination"

He does acknowledge in his final chapter that it will take a woolly revolution before these rights are recognised by parliament.

    Tres drole theo.

I trust that Leo's new lamb is not familiar with the old Tibetan proverb.

‘In this world I would rather live two days like a tiger, than two hundred years like a sheep.’

I have a sheepskin jacket and if I turned the outside in I could hide in Leons herd.

Evening all. Good news Sandy. Monday is nearly over. Hope the lad is getting better. My son also woke me up last night with an ear infection :(

Meantime, I need to read the thread. I'm thinking that this warm weather is making the grass grow rather quickly - and a small sheep or two would be good to keep the field/grass in check.

Well they have two legs on each side, so I'd say there's a good chance that two of them would be right.

By the way, what is cuissage - something to do with thighs?

Further to my comments above about cash machines, the quote actually came from an article about them not distributing £5 notes. Very few do, and some people are being denied access to their money because they don't actually have £10 in their account.

Knowing one or two who are in this situation I was not best pleased to read this.

What has happened to the game of the working man?
