I like Maik Taylor, felt he was a better keeper than Paul Jones, but Dave Jones wanted his mate at the club. Never got a decent chance at Saints and I think he was a Saints supporter as a lad as well.
I met him after a Northern Ireland match a couple of years back. I think we lost to Slovakia or something like that, and we got to go into the player's lounge afterwards. Every NI player but him was drinking beer, he just had orange juice. A really nice guy, put up with our camera's batteries failing on us, and signed a couple of autographs too.
He was an excellent keeper during his time at Birmingham. I think he was voted Premiership goalkeeper of the season whilst he played for them.
I remember an absolute wonder save from him using his feet. Can't remember the game but it was phenomenal.
There has been some light banter with Millwall on this and their fans seem to think Taylor is only cover for their injured second choice keeper
