Is the perfect type of striker we need in the summer and before anyone gets on my back I don't think he is within reach but thats the aim, a striker in the mould of that lad.

I watched Bilbao in the Europa League last week and he was fantastic and will be well suited to the English Premier League.

How much do you think we need to improve before a player like this is a possibility?

For anyone who doesn't know who I am on about, have a watch of this...

We will never be of the standard to attract a Llorente, realistically Poolie.

He will only leave Bilbao for Madrid or Barca in my opinion, but he is phenomenal, and you're right , he would be a perfect fit.

We could potentially compete for Olivier Giroud, but we'd need European football, and we'd need Montpellier to miss CL, which is looking pretty unlikely.

Or yer ano mate, the point of the article was really that we need a striker in the mould of this lad in the summer and how far the club needs to go forward to attract a player like this lad

I remember having a conversation with you before about Giroud, now he is a very good player as well.

Defo the type of striker you could do with, and wise words to say he would not be interested. Not only because of them being a European side and his standing in the game being for CL clubs only, but it is notoriously difficult to get players to leave the basque area. Giroud would be an option. I don't think European football would be a neccessity. Look at Cabaye with us, he left CL behind. Just depends on the individual.

There's a few players at Marseille likely to come on the market, they are going to be hit hard by no European football next season.

Remy is impossible, but there are players like Valbuena & Gignac who could be smashing signings, Marseille to Sunderland though, it doesn't even sound appealing to me, and i'm a Mackem!

It's difficult, there aren't many around that are likely to move and be achievable for us, you look to leagues like Holland & Portugal, that are usually feeders for the big leagues, and there's very little jumping out.

The only reason I think Europe will be a big deal for Giroud, is that he was a 'late bloomer' and he just made his France debut.

His career is at that point now that if he can prove himself at the highest level, he can really make a mark.

we could always just have MON slip into the changing room and put an SAFC shirt in place of his Athletic Bilbao shirt, he wouldn't notice. . . . . . . .

I've got him and Taarabt down as the ones to look at if we lose Sess.

Different to Sess, but just as creative in a more direct way.

    Jammy,

    You're right, both even Umbro!

    Plan...

True enough Mush, you couldn't blame him for setting his sights high. I liked the look of him when we were linked. I think we got more what we needed in Cisse but I'd have been happy with this fella. I still think we'll end back there for their centre half. Not even going to pitch an effort at spelling his name though!!

    Ha.

    I know the on, Kanga-M'Biwa?

They have a few canny players, Ait Fana the winger and Bedimo the left back are very decent as well, if they don't make CL, the team will get torn to pieces!

I like that Giroud is left footed, rare for a striker, and smashing for balance.

I reckon Marco Arnautovic could be a good player in the Prem as well, but apparently he's 'Bendtner -esque ' in nature

I'm thinking the classic prison escape plan, hiding in the dirty laundry basket, except he's going into the building, not out.

Llorente is way out of our league, he signed a pre-contract agreement with Barca with a first option on him but looks like that move won't materialise now.

He scored another class goal last night, it's hard enough getting players to come here nevermind when they are basque players, they don't move very often given they are playing for their "national team" so to speak in Athletic Bilbao, Osasuna, Real Socieded etc. They are very loyal.

Cant see MON shopping in Europe, its not what he does.

If he was though Helmes would be worth looking at again, as would that Wagner Love.

A very good player poolie and i know where you are coming from about type of player we need. Thing is there'll come a time when all the top teams will be full with forwards so maybe some decent forwards will be looking at other clubs for first team football. Sess was a prime example when he came to us to play and not go elsewhere to sit on the bench.
