Silver,

What can you tell us about this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVMaAtc6k7U

A lot of lick lipping mate, but I don't know if that is because of his cough. He is using his hands quite a bit since he is describing the situation to the interviewer so it's unlikely he is misleading them in this instance. If he was trying to be deceitful, he would not be so open with his hand movements, this looks to not be the case here.

With this interview he just looks to be asking the question as honest as he can.

At 0:44 he talks about upgrades coming and then sits back for a split second, not sure what that means as of course, I'm not a Dr in body language but have read the odd book here and there about body language. But if i'm correct here, it tells me that he feels confident that either the upgrades will work or they will be ready, but he shakes his head ever so slightly which could mean a lot of things, doubt etc... but he does worringly smile though, maybe a real expert could go into more detail about that.

At (2:02) he scratches his eye with regard to the hard tyre, so if people are correct in saying Ferrari are not too good on the long race pace this could be why. Maybe the main reason why they look behind is because they have been spending too long on sorting out the performance with the Hard tyre, they have done a lot of laps in testing.

(2:24) He gives a weird expression with his face so I would gather something on the lines of a shoulder shrug of "I'm not sure" though this could apply to everybody as this is a new make of Pirelli for this season.

(2:31) His left eyebrow raises for a split second so I guess it means he is quiet pleased with how the soft tyre is working with the car. This would support the claims Ferrari looked quick on quali but not on race.

(2:44) Talks about degradation, few suprised looks and then a little face jerk which would suggest acceptance of the problem and probably knows they could of done better back then. He then licks his lip again at (2:50) after the subject. He also quickly looks to the left which to some means a lie so maybe the upgrades havent done what they were meant to do and they are still stuck with the issue.

His eyes are for a good amount of time facing the floor which isn't a sign of confidence, that's for sure.

OOOO but very interestingly for me is that Fry seemed to just quickly avoid eye contact at (3:04) with regard to "the changes (((WE))) made to the car" suggest to me that he really wants to avoid that subject. Maybe Montezemolo or Alonso had a little word with him about this car me thinks and he then licks his lip again, which is either nervousness, or the guy really needs a drink.

Also body language isn't 100% accurate, there are different views to "certain"movement and some are more on the button than others. You also have to take into account that the rich and famous take lessons in PR and some are able to hide there emotions better than others, for example, Tony Blair with the Iraq inquiry, couldn't lay a hand on him as he was so well trained.

It's lucky we get to interview F1 drivers while full of adrenaline, it's harder to hide it then.

Long range forecasts suggesting a smallish chance of rain. Ninja, as our resident Ausie your job is to watch the skies ;)

When was the last time the season started with a wet race?

Potential DRS scoop

Xevi Pujolar said:
#Mebourne #F1 will have 2 DRS zones (1 in 2011). Detection1 Entry T14 and Activation1 Exit T16(main straight), Activation2 Exit T2

Xevi Pujolar is the Race Engineer for Pastor Maldonado. In F1 since 2002.

So thats 2 consecutive DRS zones. On the pit straight and then after the first chicane chicane

Also from him:

avg corner speed is medium-high, short corners a few change of directions. Brake energy medium-high. Is not max downforce

Well along the Central Coast of NSW, there's been pretty random weather each day, but large floods throughout the rest of NSW. Melbourne looks to have scattered showers on Friday with northwesterly winds averaging 15/20km/h. Temp: 17,min 21 max.
Saturday: Isolated showers later in the day could make for an interesting quali. Temps ranging from 13 to 21 degrees.

These things (one detection zone) are really just a solution to the main activation zone not being long enough. It's more like one activation zone extended beyond a turn at its end.

Seven more days and it'll all be over bar the shouting (at each other).

OH NO!!!!!

Im not going to play the guess the 'Martin Brundle buzz word game' anymore.

Loosing F1 to sky has really hit me =(

Was just in the other room, and heard a familiar voice shout through the TV "YES! YES, WE DID IT!!!" The first F1 ad of the year (and knowing Aussie F1 coverage, probably the last). F1 is truly back :D :D :D

Relax. If he's really reading this forum, he'll say "Losing F1 to Sky has hit a lot of people" ;)

ooooh Interesting, somebody let me know if he does!

I may have to liten out for some guy called Giorgos Papadopoulos to chat about 'Η καμπυλότητα του αυτοκινήτου' =/
