    and play him where?

upfront..then maybe...on the left wing as i have seen him on many occasions for Germany then we have got Bale

through the centre he will be stepping on Modric's toes surely..as we need a Modric type and a holding player?

Actually he is a genuinely world class player. So 90k a week (if true - you have no evidence) is not a bad deal.

you have a point with his calibre...but they all say they want to join an ambitious club dont they....he could take his pick...after which it comes down to who will pay him more

out of the top 5 clubs it may be that only Arsenal showed intrest

True. But its rare we are the highest bidders. I am sure he could of got more elsewhere <ok> We did well to seal the deal early. Wenger working at his best.

Seriously this is where Harry leaving in the summer will hurt you. Will he care about the scouting to bring players in during the next window? I doubt it. Instead I would imagine he will just work less hard.

The upfront equivalent of Per Mertesacker. Another signing in keeping with all the other recent ones. :)

One thing that was often mentioned on Old606 when his name came up as a potential signing was his less than impressive goalscoring exploits - he scores one in two for country and was/is reasonably prolific for Koln, but notably less effective at Bayern.

If Arsenal play him in Arshavin's position, where he's loading the bullets whilst chipping in with goals he could be very effective. However, if they play him as a replacement for an outgoing Van Persie he probably won't score the same amount of goals RVP has the last couple of seasons and that could affect their results. Similarly, if they play him in Arshavin's position but lose RVP and play an inadequate replacement, he may be loading the bullets but that makes no difference if the gun is pointed the wrong way.

I haven't seen enough of him playing for Koln to judge, but he's never struck me as a £100k pw player, to be honest.
It'll be interesting to see how he fits into Arsenal's side, assuming that this is all true.

No, you're right, he's not an attacking player thats all left foot is he! <whistle>. I'm not interested in any pedantry before you attempt to bore me with any. :)

One is a winger and the other a forward who has played through the middle for his club. Yes pointing that out is not pendatic. It would be like comparing Bale to Messi.

It's the same evidence that says that he's signed for Arsenal.

If he's hypothetically signed, then I'll hypothetically assume that he's on £100k pw. <ok>

Either way we can all agree he will have a big impact next year. If we keep rvp and add a few more players then I can see us winning the title. I think podolski will have a bigger impact than players like sturridge, bale and nani next year.
