Looks like JT may be getting the arm band back.

Should never have had it taken off him in my opinion. Capello bowed down to the media pressure and England haven't looked the same since.

Instead he gave it to Rio, a player in poor form prior to the world cup, on a ban for violent conduct, that drugs ban on his record and not to mention his awful injury record over the last year.

For me, the most important thing for a captain is how you lead and inspire your team on the pitch and if you compare JT and Rio (that is when he actually plays) there is no contest. Rio has barely even captained his own club. Good player, not a leader.

Lets hope with the real england captain back, England can kick on towards the euros. After that hopefully the next breed will be ready to take over and a new leader will be found (please not Rooney).

Awful reply mate from a team whose fans burn their own clubs shirts, who intimadate and threaten their own players and who have a Captain who assaults people for their music choice.Awful, just awful.

Do you honestly think England's poor world cup would have been any better with Terry as captain...?

As usual too much emphasis is placed on the choice of captain for the National side.
A real leader shouldn't need a band round his arm...

Infact, what, other than: swapping emblems; saying "heads" or "tails"; and spouting pre-planned media responses, does the England Captain actually... do?
Why even bother naming a set captain during qualifiers? Why not choose the best (most in-form) side and pick a captain from that 11?
By the time the finals arrive, the most appropriate choice will have become apparent.

The whole captain system is poor. So does this news now mean Terry is now a permanent feature the side, regardless of form, just because he's captain?

You really think had the "real England captain" been leading the team during the World Cup we would of been any better? If a player needs an armband to influence a team, then he isn't a true leader anyway. He was as poor as anybody else at the World Cup, the only thing he did was try to undermine the manager in a press conference criticizing some of Capello's method's and pretty much demanding that Joe Cole played, after a stunt like that many managers in the game wouldn't even let him back in the squad never mind give him the armband back. Also, saying Rio isn't a leader is wrong, after all he's the only player at United that seems to be able to get that donkey Evans to actually play well!

England put far too much emphasis on the armband anyway, a lot of the other teams don't really care all that much, they just give it to the guy with the most caps without any media hype, and with Italy being one of the nations that often do this I expected Capello to try and put less emphasis on the captaincy, but like all managers before him he's bowed before the media circus to give them a story.

Terry is a vile **** and rightly despised by the majority of non Russian fans.

It only goes to reinforce the belief that England is representive of Southern England, and a lot of folk from the north couldn't give a **** about the national team.

Why do i think what, you stuttering cabbage?

I think Terry is a vile **** as he plainly is, descended from a family of vile ****s who go on like vile ****s and think it's fair game to shag your mates wife.

I think the national team has cut itself adrift from a lot of Northern fans as it caters for the Southern fan and appoints a psuedo Italian **** haired ****er that barely ventures north of the Watford gap, on 6 million a year.

How actually am I a twat? Terry in 2001, together with three team-mates was fined two weeks’ wages in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, when they were accused of drunkenly mocking American tourists at Heathrow. I was pointing out how he was scum; not making fun of a terrorist event.
