"Maybe he should get his captain to deliver a brown envelope to the Home dressing room before the game ?"

This was the 3rd post in the thread, before a single Leeds fan had posted.

Even when you try to be rational and state that you're only the best team in the league when 'on your day' you fail to recognise that the same could be said for any other team. You aren't good enough to simply say 'if we play like we can, we'll win' because other teams can play well too and their 'best' (which you probably haven't seen, certainly in Hull City's case) might be better than your 'best'.

This match will probably be tight, I'm not going to pretend I'm overly confident because I do worry about playing Leeds with the away crowd behind you and we are perfectly capable of throwing away any game by missing every chance we create, as such I have no prediction, only the hope that we win.

What I mean is when we play at 100% we're better than any other team in the division at 100%, but we're not at that level anywhere near enough, so I also can't really predict a scoreline.

FFS, that's just banter, hardly blubbing material.

Anyway, you can't have bits of your history used and then other bits from the same era just skipped over.

You and your buddies have made more of a mess than that in trying to dodge the blame.

Stop whinging and get on with posting football.

Sorry, is this a fact or a personal opinion?

If it's the latter, it is essentially meaningless

You mean the dropped allegations of bribery with no proof? I remember that.

Maybe I misread the situation and if I did I apologise. On the first page of the thread before we could barely say 'hello' we were called vermin twice, scabby bastards and got accused of being under handed / backhanders. The problem with threads is that it is very difficult to tell if its banter, or.....

Seems about right to me. I thought you lot liked not being liked?

Now, what's your opinion on Tuesday's game?

So, Jimmy Bullard has been suspended for 2 weeks and Chopra has been fined 2 weeks wages, both for not turning up for training on time. Jewell said that Bullard would be hurt more by the 2 week suspension as he loves playing Football. I wonder if there is more to it than that....

You mean the dropped allegations of bribery with no proof? I remember that.

I wasn't at Leeds United in the 70s and neither were you I suspect.

Why not listen to the words of someone who was - Gary Sprake?

"I spoke the truth when I said I knew of two games he tried to fix. Some Leeds players can't get over it. I'm the black sheep because I've said something 'wrong' about the great Don Revie. He was a fantastic manager, but flawed. He was often too cautious and negative, filling our heads with boring dossiers about inferior teams instead of letting us off the leash. When he finally did, in '72, we thrashed Southampton 7-0 and Manchester United 5-1 and were absolutely brilliant.

"But I stand by what I said. Near the end of a season, Revie would ask certain people [opponents] whether they would like a nice holiday. Because I said that, some team-mates have blown me out of the family... I told the truth in '78. Not one person sued me. When I had to finish at Birmingham, aged 28, no one from Leeds got in touch. The bribery story broke and suddenly I had calls from Billy [Bremner] and Don. A testimonial and a job were offered. Revie arranged to meet me at a Leicester hotel. My solicitor went instead. The paper paid me £7,000. If I'd taken what he offered, I could have made £20,000. But it was about principle, not money. My conscience is clear."

As Gary says, it's telling that no one from Leeds has sued him.

Well Dutch, if we play as well as we did on Saturday, it'l be a cracker. Defence is not infallible but are working very hard

You remember what? I've never dropped any allegations, never had the need to.

Interesting that Harry and all his many supposed dodgy dealings still get him to front runner for the England job, yet Revie, after the investigation into the allegations never got a job in England again, supposedly just because he mistimed his press release.

Anyway, that's all history, no need to bother with it now eh?

I watched your game the other night and thought the work rate was tremendous. We'll certainly need to be all on to contain Leeds if they play like thar, without any shadow of doubt.

What I did feel was that Southampton seemed to be quite willing to cede the ball at times. When Southampton decided to play keep ball, Leeds seemed to struggle far more and showed signs they could become frustrated. But I'll be the first to admit I'm stretching what I saw with that opinion.

As you say, it's got the makings of a cracker.

I still think there's something fishy about the Harry deal (or is that the Hull fans) <laugh>

Leeds always seem to raise their game when they come to Hull

Not sure if the s h i t pitch will suit us or them (or neither)

And the allegations were then dropped when it was shown that jilted 'keeper Sprake had no proof and loads of holes in his story.

Several people made the allegations at the time and challenged Revie to sue. He chose not to. Some allegations were 'allegedly' dropped due to pressure from governing bodies fearful of opening a whole can of worms.

News from last century about the east coast fishing industry not reached southern outposts yet I see.

I don't disagree about Harry though. Seems to be far too easy a ride in the media.
