I was invited to help this site about a month ago, via not606 notifications. I didn't reply immediately because I don't necessarilly think change for the sake of change is a good thing. All too often it means British products look great and work worse than ever. However, I'm getting heartily sick of signing in ten times every fifteen minutes on not606 (even when I've just done it ten seconds ago!!!) so I thought I'd contact free606 and see what that was about. My registration was rejected on the grounds that I would not answer an illegal question (by law, you are not obliged to disclose your age or birthday these days). So I came back to not606 notifications and hit the reply button to let them know. Then I was told they do not receive replies!!! So, either you comply with an illegal question or you can't join! Whoever's behind this site - please don't waste any more of my time. Goodbye boys.
Snap cuty but they wanted me for a mod ME i had a laugh and sent it to mick never went to their site and never will
cuty, I wonder why you have to keep signing on, I dont so would be intrested if anyone can help solve the problem.
Thanks for responding syd. I don't know what the problem is - maybe if I don't tick the remember me box, I have to sign in every time I change threads or something? But three or four times now, I've written out a reply to someone's thread, tried to post it, and been told you don't have permission to post - please sign in. I've only signed in a couple of minutes before!!! Grrrrr... If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong I'd appreciate them rollicking me, as it's so frustrating. While I'm here, can I just clarify something I said above. It's not illegal for free606 to ask your age - but it is illegal for them to discriminate against someone who doesn't answer. There's no secret about the age of a man who writes as much about Shack &co as I do, but I won't fill it in on principle. Anyway, thanks for responding. Much appreciated.
My first thought was you are closing your browser then returning. But if as you say you are getting logged out whilst writing a reply, it is going to be a setting or addon in your browser. Which browser are you using? I use Google Chrome as it is fast and remembers any log ins or passwords I want it to. I then just need to click in the sign in and password boxes top of page and it fills them in. If I close the browser I will need to re-sign in, but thats the way I prefer it anyway.
I've logged out and logged back in with IE 9. I will give it a go whilst browsing here and elsewhere. I normally only use IE for my bank as their site prefers it.
Sounds like a setting in your Browser's options, i use both IE9 and Chrome and i stay logged on to not606, even if i do close my browser. Could also be your firewall settings or Anti Virus settings. Slight change of subject here but do any of you still receive the post match emails from Brucey? I'm registered to get them but never had one all season.
Right the only way I am being logged out is having IE clear browsing data on exit and not ticking "keep me logged in" box. It's timing out, similar to what my bank does as a security measure. Which makes me think you may have a corrupt "cookie". Click top right of IE the little cogwheel. Click "Safety" Select "Delete Browsing History" Select cookies and click Delete. Personally I would delete "History" and "Temp Internet Files" as well. Close down IE and when you reopen NOT606 it should store a new cookie on your computer. Log in making sure you tick the keep me logged in box. If it still logs you out try below. You could download and run "CCleaner" wonderful piece of FREE software for clearing out junk. You only need to use the cleaner part which cleans stuff Windows misses. I used mine earlier today and it shifted over 2 Gb's of junk!!!! http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner The download link is the green arrow right of page. Filesize 2.89MB.
Just shut down and re-opened IE and it has remembered I'm logged in. So I'm pretty sure your problem will be a corrupt "cookie".
Must be something in my security settings Syd< i even registered under a different email address and still got nothing.
If the board has stonghold cookies enabled, and your ip changes regular, then you will get logged out all the time (not sure if this will be the problem, but it can be a cause of what you are experiencing).
I'd say dodge internet expolorer like the plague, it's an absolutely appaling glitch riddled programme. That said, i use firefox and i still have to sign in if i'm inactive for a few minutes, it's possibly something Mick has set up to save usage on the server, but i agree it's pretty annoying.
For me as a phone user, it's slightly different. My Java Opera Mini browser keeps me logged in for ever. My default Android browser doesn't, for some reason.
I havnt had to login since i joined, its only a month or so but i am here nearly every day, but then i am on a static IP, it never changes, well it does but i think its been 4 changes in 7 years or something. stronghold cookies secure your cookies from hack attempts, as long as you come onto the board with the same IP each time you are fine, but if you come on with a different IP, you have to login again, because it thinks its someone else trying to get into your account. Most ISPs especially dial up and adsl connections, change ips regular, others like AOL use a proxy and it changes every few minutes, others on cable like me it hardly ever changes, so we never have the login problem.
