A good friend of mine whos a die hard Evertonian rang me this morning just to gloat that we took 'No Hope' off their hands and said we'd best keep him... Doesn't sound too good :S
Anyone know if we are able to sign any of the current loan players permanently before the end of the season? I wouldn't have though any of the parent clubs would be happy with us saying their player won't even be in the squad most weeks which is the situation we are in now. Unless it is going to be Hope who doesn't feature much and we have got him in on that basis with a view to a possible permanent move. Although if he can't make the squad that would seem unlikely.
I'm sure that we can sign a loan player, in advance of the transfer period opening. Or we can sign an agreement with the parent club,, that we will sign a player, once the window opens up. OLM, will be the one to have the answer to that query.
Sounds like Hope will be playing tin the reserves first of all and if he impresses then maybe we will see him in the matchday squad at another loanee's expense (presumably Amoo). Think NP may rotate these two for a place on the bench for the final few games of this season.
I was meaning can we sign them and they become our player rather than a loan player and so wouldn't be counted as 1 of the 5 loan players in a match day squad. I was pretty sure you couldn't but didn't know for sure.
We can't make permanent signings outside of the transfer window, so anyone who's on loan now has to remain a loan until at least the summer. I'm sure we'll try and sign Evans and Gerrard in the summer, probably Hobbs and possibly Mannone. We'll have to wait and see with the others, but I don't think it's looking good for Belaid.
From what NP has been saying it seems to me that Hope will be treated as more of a trialist than anything else. We're 'having a look at him' and we 'shouldn't expect to see him in the first team straight away'. (not word-for-word quotes) Anyway, I reckon he'll take part in reserve games and maybe play the final one or two Championship matches if it's mathematically impossible for us to qualify for the play-offs.
Shame about Belaid, he has a very good pedigree. He hasn't kicked off about playing from the bench and has kept a level head. He looks a good prospect and I would have thought with Evans only being on loan, if something goes wrong with the permanant signing he would get a contract. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play tomorrow if we are ahead or looking comfortable, his set piece ability is probably one of the best in the league.
I'm not sure that's completely right. I think anybody that was here until the end of the season at the close of the window can be turned into a permanent deal as we already have their registrations for the whole of the season. People who've joined on emergency loans we couldn't as it would involve extending their stay here. I can't remember who but I'm sure someone did it last season so they could bring in an extra loanee, probably Sheff U because they had loads on loan. I might also be talking bollocks having imagined the whole thing about another club doing it.
You actually can make permanent signings outside the window, however the deal will only come into play once the window is open again. For example, as of today we could agree a deal with Cardiff to make Gerrard a permanent signing and also agree a contact with him. We'd then submit all the necessary paper work and as soon as it is accepted by the Football League, Gerrard would become a Hull City player permanently as soon as the Summer window opens. However, until the window Gerrard would still would be considered as a loanee from Cardiff.
