My daughter, who is 24, has a new boy friend. That's all well and good but the problem is he's from Portsmouth and his family, dare I say, support Pompey! Help.
Gloat if you get invited to a prospective family gathering. Try and slip words into conversation like administration, attendance, CVA and relegation.
How on earth did this happen Kate surely there aren't that many of them around anymore. Just ask him who is he going to support next season and if he is uncertain it will probably be because he is still grieving. He will have to have made his mind up by by next season though and if he is still undecided you can always give him a beer while you and your daughter cheer on the Saints while watching Match of the Day next season. Just reassure him that he wont need to sit up late to watch the FL show anymore. The only worry is that if they get really serious and marryyou might be the grandmother of his children and that would never do.
Very sad when your children let you down, but you have to respect their choice if not their judgement. Perhaps helping him see the light could be regarded as charity work.
Talk to FRANK.... I had a similar situation when I lived with my parents. My little Sis, also 24 was dating a Pompey fan. It was bad at the time as Pompey were in the premiership and won the FA Cup....now however, in your situation, take it as an opportunity to gloat in a friendly manner but make sure she washes upon any contact
If you've dismissed the option of locking your daughter up or having her sectioned, then simply enjoy. A life long Manc mate of mine had to endure his daughter, herself a season ticket holder at OT, marrying a Red scouser. They got married on Cup Final day 1996 (1-0 to Man Utd if you've forgotten) and he's enjoyed the superiority ever since. We are going to be in a better place than Pompey for quite a while yet.
Count the digits on his hands. If there is more than the regulation 10, oh dear and good luck with that.
Seriously Ange;, you should be ashamed of yourself. Tut parents these days, just don't bring the kids up with the right values.
Encourage it, perhaps they can bring unity to Portsmouth and Southampton like Romeo and Juliet hoped to bring unity to the houses of Montague and Capulet! Edit: With more success hopefully.
I don't know what you should do about your Pompey dilemma, but you can celebrate because both Lallana and Lambert are reported fit to play against Leeds. Almost worthy of a fist pump and chant, of your calling, I'd say.
