many different opinions on this, and yes we do need one, if we sign wellbeck and a top striker young danny can play there, then linked again with n'zog, but what im really wondering is if anyone would still be interested in bringing stewart downing back or do you think his time has passed, still only 26 and now would not see safc as a step backwards more as a step forwards and a chance to shine in an up and coming young side, any thoughts? i know linked before but circumstances have changed now

I aint sure about Downing, would he fit into the style we play?

When he plays wide left he likes to get to the touchline and whip the ball in and I am not sure if that is what is needed as we don't have a target man and dont realy play that way.

IMO N'Zogbia would be perfect because like Sess on the other side he gets forward but gets into positions so he becomes the man on the left of a front 3 and gets in goal scoring positions. IMO he is a Malouda type of player and that is what is needed more than the typical wide man or should I say for a team like us with a player like Gyan upfront

i'd be overjoyed if either Downing or Nzogbia signed for us, both very very good players
    mignolet
    onuoha bramble turner bardsley
    nzogbia cattermole muntari sessagnon
    welbeck
    gyan
subs: gordon, ferdinand, richardson, meyler, malbranque, elmohamady, campbell.
Personally i would sell henderson if we get the right offer <cool><cool>

Im with Poolie, not sure if we are a "crossing" type of team but this is mostly down to not having any real wingers or good crossers of the ball or headerers of the ball for that fact. All depends which type of striker Brucey will bring in this summer really

This is my man for the job

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCnXouc0JCo

Look around 1min 50, for a sensational bit of wing play, and the consistent standard of his crossing is unreal.

Been keeping my eye on him for a while, he's a strong finisher to boot.

Only 24, but already 30-odd caps, and his goals per game record from left wing? 108 games, 43 goals.

Yes, it's a strong team in a weak league, but that is a fantastic stat. He also has champions league experience, not that he's like;y to get any more if he comes hear like ;(

Downside? Might cost £15million-ish as PSV turned down £12million from Fenerbache.

Why buy Welbeck as a striker then play him on the wing Camachio? we need an out and out LW as well as Welbeck.

With you on this on Brucie, but im right off Ginac now crap performance the other night. anyway he wont cost that much he wants to play in the prem, they are a selling club, and he may do a Sess if they quote daft prices, the lad wants to advance his career and the best ones leave.

The only reason we are not a crossing team, is because we only have one decent crosser of a ball, Henderson, who as we all know has been playing in the middle of the park for the majority of the season. All of the best teams have great crossers in their arsenal who can change a game instantly by whipping the ball into the box. I'm sure that SB plans to use Hendo on the right wing in future matches, so to get the balance of the team right, he is keen to bring in a left winger. Pace and passing/crossing ability is crutial to our needs because we already have the fire power up front in Gyan, Welbeck and Campbell to score the goals. Our problem has been getting quality balls into the box to our front men, hence the lack of goals this season.

I'm not sure about N'Zogbia because of his personality and his long held wish to join a top four club. He has admitted that he has used Wigan as a stepping stone to further his career, would he think the same of us? I believe he would. I would like to see us go for Downing or Matt Jarvis from Wolves who made Alan Hutton look like a pub player in the game against Spurs a couple of weeks ago.

I thought we had just signed a left winger called Miliband, but it seems that he prefers the centre. Maybe we should have signed his brother.

You can't write Gignac off for one poor game coming back from injury mate, but we won't pay for him anyway so it's a non-starter.

Dzudzak is the man for me, he looks more direct than Zog, and i dare say he's less of a prick.

Has a certain relationship between a Mr. Brucey and a Mr. Pierre-Gignac gone south?

    Ha,

Even if i were having some kinda love-in with Gignac, no way will we pay £20million for a player.

Which moves us nicely along to Pavel Pogrebniak...

    Ha ha.

Downing is a far better player than Insomnia. Guaranteed effort, decent crosses n 6+ goals a season. Nsomnia has the odd GOOD game mixed in with lots of crap. Also has a suspect attitude.
