You reach your 16th birthday and 1st thing you aspire to is finding out what benefits you're entitled to. How about the unthinkable. getting a job, I know, it sounds like madness and is probably very old fashioned but it's what people used to do and it gave them some self esteem together with a purpose in life.

Like I think someone said before; if you're 16-17 then it will be only be paid in exception circumstances.
So I'm not sure if you would be entitled to it, but I think if you told them that you were looking for work then they probably would let you.
It's a lot harder to get a job for teenagers now than it was 30-40 years ago for 2 reasons
Idiot employers who want experience and don't realise that approach will result in an old bastard workforce with millions of poor, discontented and sometimes homeless young people

If people look harder then jobs are available. Too many people are being fussy and choosing to stay on benefits rather than get off their arse and work for a living.
