It was a sending off! Shocking tackle and getting away with it because of a technicality seems ridiculous! You could understand it if there wasn't video evidence? Should be judged, solely on the challange not what the ref put in his report
It wasn't a red card tackle, and the player had lost control of the ball, like in the Ipswich game, so it should be a yellow card for me. Not sure what the OP was on about suggesting we'd all be outraged?
That was never a red and was correctly rescinded. Unlike Taylor's, which was a nailed on red. Would have been much more controversial if Blackpool came back to win the game with Lansbury in goal. PS West Ham's second was miles offside.
Where do you stand on the red card for Kompany against Utd? To be honest, if any out field player had done Green's challenge it would have been a red with no questions asked.
Thought Kompanys was a good tackle, seen far worse go unpunished since. Green, well you rush out, you risk it, but Ipswichs keeper last week was terrible & he got a yellow.

Just seen it for the first time, and I don't think it was a red. So it's quite right that the red card has been over-turned. That said however, I am still surprised if was over-turned. It was far from a shocking decision, and I can understand why the referee choose to show a red card. I'd have expected the FL to subsequently back the referee up. Like I say, it was no howler. But hey, the right decision has been reached.
From those highlights, I also managed to further reinforce my opinion that Big Sam is actually a Big Petulant Fool. Look at him having his paddy on the sideline.
Hi SaintsFTW. Since you ask... I can understand why it was given. If Nani had committed to the challenge then there would have been no questions asked as the red was dispatched. I suspect that the ref will have seen the way Kompany went in and not fully clocked where Nani was at the time, but on the other hand just because the opponent had pulled out of the way should not necessarily be a good enough reason to keep him on. Of course none of this was scrolling through the referee's brain at the time, he had about 0.5 seconds to think "red". Personally, if he had booked him then I guess we would not be talking about it right now.
They are both isolated cases. Doesn't make a difference what happened to the Ipswich GK. Green's challenge was atrocious
