I think its an absolute disgrace (along with most saints fans) that robert green has rightly had his red card recinded.

    All the best

A strange decision really, if he did come out of his area & make contact with the player who was in control of the ball, then surely the red card should stand. Okay, meet you half way, sack the ref.

    Morning History,

It was based on the refs report which said that he had stopped a goal scoring opurtunity, and because the striker had already kicked the ball which went wide before green made contact it was not coonsidered a goal scoring opurtunity.

I only got a glimpse at it, so all I shall say is........it was nowhere near as bad as the Ipswich keepers challenge on Mason, of which he got a yellow. Carry on Green.

So when did any of us understand the rule on this. The serious point is that this could have been game changing. 2-1 up and having your goalie sent off could have been a problem! Had Blackpool gone on to win with soft goals past a make-shift keeper would the result have been null and void as the red card was given incorrectly? Course not.

Or maybe the ref was biased and knows you get your best results when you only have 10 men.

Enjoy it while it lasts ;)

Having his red card revoked could set a precedent here. Where does the FL draw the line?

Well it looked bad enough to me to stay. The highlights are around on the Beeb Football website for another few days. Rotb33, I think you could be right about the rules changing [or at least the interpretation of them] because Rory Delap's red card for his tackle during the Crawley Town match, was also rescinded. And one or two pundits have piped up against that. I didn't see that tackle myself, but, from what I gather, the red card was rightly given.

Joke, cannot believe the red card has been rescinded. If that was a player on the pitch no way would it be rescinded. Keepers get too much protection.

the tackle was violent conduct as well as stopping a clear goalscoring opportunity

I suspect the real Trevor Brooking played a part in the decision being overturned.

I suppose if you have as many dismissals as West Ham you are going to get the occasional one overturned. Shouldn't have been because he quite clearly had Billy Sharp by the throat and threw him to the ground..........oh hang on, wrong game. Anyway he deserved it.

Yes, but there's no excuse for holding his head and throwing himself to the ground.....oh hang on, that didn't happen either.

To be fair it wasnt a goal scoring opportunity as the forward had kicked the ball miles away, but it was a hell of a reckless challenge which deserved a red on its own :-S

It was a shocking tackle and a red anywhere on the pitch for serious foul play.

It wasn't a goal scoring opportunity because of the strikers touch but it doesn't matter as Green was reckless
