This is shocking, hope they find the vile ****!! FOOTIE star Billy Sharp has been targeted by a vile Twitter troll who abused him over the death of his new-born son. The striker has received a stream of sick posts from an account with the user name @ChrisDRFCBoyd taunting him about the tragedy of two-day-old Luey Jacob in November. The messages also attack the 26-year-old for leaving bottom of the table Doncaster last month in a £3m transfer deadline day move to join promotion-chasing Southampton. The first said: "Luey Jacob Sharp DEAD DEAD DEAD DEAD." Then a series of terrace chant-style messages followed including: "Your sons a p***k and so are you, your sons a p***k and so are you". Hitting back ... Billy Sharp replies to a taunt on Twitter Three minutes later he was again mocked with: "Billy where's your son. Billy, Billy where's your son." The final shocking tweet read: "Should of stayed with us until the end of the season you p***k. "F**king glad your son died and hope your legs get broken." Grieving Sharp hit back: "shallow little boy hope ur proud of urself (sic)." Last night Doncaster Rovers were investigating the attack. A spokesman for the club said: "Doncaster Rovers Football Club are aware of the Twitter feed from a fan called Chris Boyd. "We are investigating the matter at the moment and will take appropriate action. "The club will not tolerate the misuse of social media or obscene language in any way." Last month Barnsley fans were accused of singing sickening chants about Sharp's son. Just days after little Luey died, Sharp scored in a 3-1 defeat by Middlesbrough, poignantly lifting his club shirt to show a T-shirt message 'That's for you, son'. Hampshire Police said last night they were "aware" of the sick messages. The Sun launched our Target A Troll campaign last year to nail sickos targeting bereaved families. Relatives of Maddie McCann, Amy Winehouse and Jade Goody are among those abused.
I suspect it's not a good time to be called Chris Boyd and living in Doncaster, there's a Twitter campaign to hunt him down. You have to be a real moron to post ****e like that under your real name, the bloke from Peterborough that was tweeting racist comments to Aaron Mclean also used his real name, so I found his address and told him I was coming to get him(he didn't tweet Mclean again).
You really have to wonder what goes on in someone's head to pull a stunt like this. There's a whole list of words that sum up these people but I'd go for pathetic . Bit like the clown who lead Stuart Gilsons family up the garden path saying he had info on where he is. Why do that ? Anyway I hope the saddo who posted those comments on twitter is found and is given a custodial so he can have a think about what they have done.
I'm curious in this, what's the actual crime that's been committed? I think we're all agreed that what's happened shouldn't have happened, but is there anything illegal about it?
I think there is an offence of malicious communication (or something like that), but couldn't say for sure
Under section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1998 it is an offence to send an indecent, offensive or threatening letter, electronic communication or other article to another person and sections 85 Postal Services Act 2000 or s127 Communications Act 2003 there are similar specific offences relating to sending postal or telephone messages which are indecent offensive or threatening. Both offences are punishable with up to six months imprisonment and/or a fine.

Yes, you also have to consider that as has been mentioned you'd have to be pretty stupid to tweet what was tweeted (I know I could stop now) and do it under your own name. If however your some schoolkid who's girlfriend has just dumped you to go out with Chris Boyd you might think it'd be funny to try to get him in **** by tweeting under his name. You know he's a Donny fan, so you make the new Twitter account and then you post the abuse.
Even if that was his real name he's not guaranteed to be on the electoral register. Plus I don't know which version of the electoral register Hedon has access to - there are (I think) 2 versions, 1 is easily accessible and can be purchased by anyone, but the other one is not.
the internet is a bizzare thing though , people seem to act in a completely different way when using this form of comms' that in any other way . its almost as saddening that its no real surprise that people will behave in such a way !
Yeah, there's the normal one that anyone can buy a copy of (eg telesales), and there's the edited one that anyone can see but they have to go to the offices where it's stored and they're not allowed to remove it from there. Like you say, not guaranteed to be on it even if it's him and he's an adult, and are U18s on it at all?
