If there was no way he could buy players Wenger was blameless. However: 06/07 - Spent £14m, sold £31m 07/08 - spent £31m, sold £17.5m 08/09 - spent £15.75, sold £19.3m 09/10 - spent £10m, sold £41m 10/11 - spent £14.5m, sold £7.7m 11/12 - spent £53m, sold £70.7m As you can see during these barren years it is not like Arsenal have not been spending money. Every year there is always money that could be spent but we are not buying the right players. Other clubs are able to buy good squad players but we cannot. Misguided loyalty to some renders us useless. Merida wasn't given games so left .. but we played Diaby continually on the left and he was shyte ! We have opted to not buy players because we didn't want to prevent the development of the likes of Walcott and Denilson. We have missed out on players and we have eroded our squad quality. When we needed a keeper we could've bought Given, Schwarzer or Friedel who are all better keepers than Almunia and Fabianski - but that would've prevented Fabianski's development WE needed a CB but that would've prevented Senderos and Djourou's development We needed a CM but that would've prevented Song, Denilson and Ramsey's development We needed a striker but that would've prevented Bendtner and Vela's development
Fabianski played well last season We need a coverCB We need Goetze...I stillthink Rambo will be good just not ATM We need a cover striker for RvP
the simple fact is that we have one or 2 class players . The rest are average. Occasionally they have a good game and this convinces Arsene that they have potential to be great. Most games they are merely average and against any well set up side we struggle to even create attacks. The tactics seem to be the same every game , rarely they work , most times we struggle to get a win . It seems to me that we play MUCH too slowly to catch any team on the break and this is our weakest fault. When a team is as slow and methodical as us , even the crappest defence can get 10 men behind the ball and snuff our attack out. These are Wengers CHOSEN tactics . They DO NOT work against any team of worth. He cant seem to see it and continues week after week with the program. I hope if he doesnt leave then Van Persie does. He is a world class player and deserves to get some medals while he is still young enough. Wenger is holding him back with his ineptitude. We will not win ANYTHING else with wenger at the helm .
This highlights Wenger's catalogue of mistakes. In the past when we had a better team and weaker opposition, we were able to comfortably get in the top 4, now with better teams and a poorer team, we are greatly struggling to achieve this. We are just lucky that Chelsea have been utter tosh this season.....
I think they may have put his leg back on the wrong way around as he cant seem to pass the ball to one of our players!
We are equally unlucky that the Spuds have had a freakishly good season. Not an excuse, but just a bit of balance
True, but set your Spurs bias to one side, they do have a very good squad (better than ours) and have a good manager that can get the best from them. If you think about it, its not a big suprise is it? What is more of a suprise for me is Chelsea playing so poorly. There are rumours spreading that the senior players are revolting against Villas-Boas, which if true, is a reason why they are in 5th...
I understand what you are saying, but by 'freakish' I mean it is against the norm. If/when they lose their manager, there is every chance Modric and some others will bale out too. Can you then still see them in 3rd spot next season? I can't, which is why I say 'freakish'. This season is a flash in the pan for the Spuds and our finishing top 4 is the norm. Not good enough, but the norm nonetheless.
Ok fair enough but there is still no guarantee that Spurs will implode without Harry. If they manage to get a good replacement then who knows. Either way, the premiership has become more competitive than ever. With Liverpool improving, Chelsea are only a stone throws away until they get back to winning ways. No easy top 4 qualification for us anymore.....
Completely agree. I hope the club make the required changes to strengthen our position soon. Until then, I shall remain a supporter in the true sense of the term COYG
Am considering cancelling my membership, tbh. Although, this could mean I'm back down to being a red member for the Guardiola £200m revolution or whatever... **** it. Next season will be the 'Europa League Quarter Final Disappointment'
i'm thinking of cancelling my season ticket as well, f--k this team and f--k this manager, and f--k this board, f--k them all.
Former legends have said we are ****, most fans have said we are ****, Stevie Wonder can see we are **** yet we still have a small minority of fans acting as if we aren't in a crisis.
