Blimey, that's out of the blue. Did he want to talk to Wolves, I wonder, and Huddersfield wouldn't let him - fracas and all that..?
Not surprised a lot of the fans were out to get him last season even when they were on that long undefeated run.
I initially thought of the Wolves job, but then thought why would they want him? Apart from the long unbeaten run (which is very impressive) he has failed to get out of LEague One at 2 attempts and looks like play offs at best in his third attempt. He has also spent a fair bit for that league. On the other hand he has been unfortunate in that there have been bigger clubs in the league during that time fighting it out with bigger bigger budgets, more pull for signings etc. EDIT - maybe he wants the Leeds job?
He's a terrible manager really. Yes they went on an unbeaten run but their squad cost as much as ours did. He should have walked the league with the lack of competition.
It appears it's due to a lack of belief that he can get them promoted. There's lots of managers to choose from. Wonder if Mick McCarthy would be tempted..? The timing is interesting.
Within two seconds of this appearing on Twitter, I tried to put money on him getting the Leeds job. Betting suspended....
BBC's Dan Roan on Twitter: "Sources close to Lee Clark say he was fired in 2 minute phone call from Huddersfield chairman - Clark now considering unfair dismissal claim"
After standing by him for so long, then sacking him over the phone, sounds like rage to me. Can't blame him.....too many draws!
Sounds like Huddersfield have their eye on someone else. Strangely, appeals for unfair dismissal are uncommon in football because usually their contracts are paid up. I'd love to lose my job and be given a couple of years pay.
