Lazarus, welcome to the world of Tottenham before very recent times. For years and years, there would be players that we'd be interested in, but we would have no chance with. if the hazard story is true, it really does show how things have changed. Arsenal have wanted the guy for ages, but to no avail. we would have never had a chance with someone like this a few years ago, especially with all the hype. he'd have been off to one of the "big 4".

I'm now beginning to wonder if this is the moment where Levy (after no marquee signings for 18 months) shows some real intent, especially with Arry's situation. I wouldn't mind betting that Arry and Levy already know the score, as do England; it's just the public that don't. Therefore this signing (potentially), + a couple of other bigguns levy's probably got up his sleeve, will help us to push on next season, even without Arry. new signings will also help the fans deal with the blow of losing our best manager in years. (let's face it lads, it's going to happen.)

Cheers. Actually i would rather Harry stays with Spurs too. He seems to be the perfect manager for you at the moment. He has got you playing cracking football and edging you closer to winning big honours. It would be a big shame for him to leave Spurs right now.

Could Hazard come to Spurs? That would be interesting. It all comes down to the finances really....

yeah, we do too. If I was him, I'd never take the job. too much pressure on someone who the nation treat like a f*cking dog, when the reality is that we're just not good enough.

Hazard: - well, with a new stadium getting the go ahead, the financial situation could well be changing in the coming years. that's a massive bit of new for us, that might now play a part in financial decisions over players. - I don't expect much to change soon, but it can't do us any harm.

hazard has also stated he wants to play. well, he's going to have a very good chance on our right hand side and could slot in perfectly with the team. I guess it'll come down to what his on his agenda to be honest, which is likely to be money. - but money doesn't buy you a starting place in the line up.

Exactly right, the problem is the England players are simply not good enough. They lack the technical skills to compete with the likes of Spain, Germany and Holland. Saying that, i think Harry will get the best of this England bunch and get them as far as they can. But agreed, this job is a poisoned chalace....

Talking about a new stadium, don't expect miracles when it's up and running. If its simular to the Arsenal model, expect some serious saving.....

Out of interest, how do you know this, as I put earlier, anything via google points to Comolli, not a Levyesque VDV swoop. Levy obviously steps in at contract talks time, but if you're trying to tell me Levy scouted and watched him, I don't believe it.

It was reported in WSC when the DoF system was torn down.

Typing the words Levy signed Modric into Google gets you three pages of stories linking him to the Chavs or the Pennyless Mancs.

Mmm!...I just tried that and didn't get 3 articles, let alone 3 pages hbic, the only meeting suggested is a cartoon! <laugh> ...you try it replacing Levy with Comolli. Whats WSC? :)

Can Hazard play on the right then?

I was under the impression he was only any good on the left? If so, I'm skeptical seeing as how we have a half-decent LW already :)

Moorph, I was convinced he's right footed, but then thought you might be right here....

however, having found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqN5jZs6Aoo, it'd now confirmed to me that he's pretty good with his right foot as I first thought, regardless of where he plays on the pitch!!! you only have to watch the first min!

earlier lads, I posted the link to the sky sports story over Hazard. For anyone who hasn't read the comments, seriously go and have a look. (http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7520513/Hazard-Spurs-deal-not-done-yet)

it's just chavs and Goons kicking off!! they are mortified even over the possibility of this being true!!

my personal fav comment so far:

"Lets face it this story has no truth to it. Hazard has always said that he wants to join Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool, who are Spuds compared to them? Nobody, they have no history and like someone else said , once Arry leaves they will be back in the middle of the table. Loving all the Spuds fans getting excited over this twoddle! :D"

Well if we do buy him, it surely must mean one of our current midfielders must be on his way (I doubt we'd spend the £££ only to bench someone like Hazard).

If I had to guess I'd say the player off would be Lennon - I think every transfer window for about 2 years now, there's been rumours of him being linked with Liverpool.

I just can't see us buying Hazard and still maintaining the services of Bale and Lennon.

EDIT: Scrap that, partially - wiki tells me he's also an attacking midfielder. Van der Vaart has always said he wants to finish his career back at Hamburg...Hazard could be his replacement?

How about Pienaar, Moorpheus?
Sounds like a fair swap!

If we return to the Champions League, then having a competitive squad with depth will be very important.
I'm not overly familiar with Hazard, but he looks capable of playing more than one position, which would provide competition and/or cover for more than one player.
We need to have a capable squad.

Absolutely - depth is vital for success. However, of the other PL clubs looking at him (Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal) - I think he'd go straight into their first XI onto the wing (or at least in MF somewhere). With Spurs? Hmm, not so sure.

ok he can come! His left foot is pretty good. So

Friedal

Walker
Kaboul
King
Benny

Luka
Scott/Sandro

Hazard
VDV
Bale

Ade.

Yep, that'd do quite well <somersault>

PNP, from what I've seen, he's versatile across the midfield. - A bit like we've seen this season with Bale in terms of Left, right, or a nuisance down the middle if needs be. (i think this is probably why we're a little unsure about which is his strongest foot, we all appear to have seen different games/footage of him)

regardless, like I say, you've only got to see the first min of that video above, to know he's got a good right foot. - for me, he's the replacement for Lennon. I personally don't feel Lennon has made any major improvement in the last 18 months, but the team has overall. Therefore, with us continuing to improve and push on, perhaps the club feel that we need to strengthen and have perhaps identified Hazard as not only a candidate for that position, but also an ideal spurs player to fit our style of football?

Moorph - when Lennon's fit, he really doesn't have much competition for his place, where as every other position does.

I'd have put NEW STRIKER up front myself but yes that team does look alright ;)

(I still don't know if Ade will take the pay cut required to join us).

Would be a fantastic signing if Spurs manage to pull it off, im surprised more clubs didnt go after Shaqiri too though.

I personally cant see this happening though. Lille have said plenty times it would take a £30M+ bid to take him away and i cant see Spurs spending that much unless Bale/Modric or VdV is sold in the summer. Especially considering Adebayor still needs replaced or bought himself.

Spurs isnt the first club he's name dropped and its quite common for other players to talk about clubs prior to a big money move. Time will tell though.

The News ticker on Sky sports news is now claiming that he has denied agreeing anything with Spurs, but would not rule out a move there. Seems to have his sights set on Spain.

As someone pointed out, won't believe it till he's holding the Spurs jersey at the Lodge in front of the press.
