The FA will never appoint a Scots manager of England, the only candidate would be Fergie, who managed Scotland on a similar short-term basis in 86

I think the only reason they used the word 'British' was to try and drag Martin O'Neill into the equation.

He was knocked back years ago when Mclaren got the job. From what you hear, I think MON sounds like a guy with a lot of pride, and therefore would probably resist involving himself in the circus again. And Sunderland, apparently, is the club he supports.

I reckon if Harry wants it, it's his. If he says no, however, and sticks with Spurs (and why wouldn't he?) then I think they have a bit of a large problem on their hands.

As it is, I think in spite of logic and the ever improving fortunes of Tottenham, like all managers Harry has an ego. And that ego likes the thought of being the one manager who succeeds where all others fail - The England job. I think he'll take it.

so the fa would prefer an English or British manager

Could anyone see a Scot managing an English side when the Scots support themselves or anyone who plays against England

surely any nationality is better than those north of the border

I await eagerly for any response

They couldn't appoint a Scot if they want a British manager, what would they then do if Scotland voted for independence in the referendum?

if martin o niel ever gets the england job i will stop
supporting england .
i was told he was the only manager in england who sis not wear a poppy/
is that true?

I've no idea if it's true or not. But with a name like O'Neill, and the fact he used to be a Gaelic Football player as well I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that he's from a Catholic background. Given the kind of things that happened to Lennon (a Protestant) when he signed for Celtic (the Catholic club) it's possible O'Neill wouldn't wear one for fear of what would happen to any family back home if he was seen to be supporting "the enemy". If that were the case though I don't think you'd need to object to him being England manager because that would be a far more dangerous thing for him to do from a family point of view so he wouldn't even consider it.

Hasn't fergie said he wants Moyes to take over from him at United? Would he want a couple of years at spurs before United, or stick around at Everton?

I think Fergie rates him. If he hasn't been snapped up by the time Fergie goes, he'll be right in the running.

I reckon Jose will get United though, he's made it public in the past that it's a job he'd take. And another big mate of Sir Alex.
