    Now then Boys and Girls

The discussion we had about potentialy sacking cappello was pretty good and we didn't end up biting eachothers heads off! We may have accidently stumbled upon some common ground! YAY!

Anyway, I thought we'd continue along the same lines with this question. Given the decision to suspend John Terry as England Captain, who would you pick for the armband in euro 2012 and why?

Not too interested in the reasons why Terry was stripped of it, right or wrong, we are where we are and it'd be interesting to see what you think

My pick is Scott Parker. Seems to play a lot under Capello, will probably be in that important role in the middle for England and when I saw him at Carrow Road this year, take it from me, the guy is good. He bosses midfield and is an enabler for the attacking players.

He's a hugely important player for club and country and he always plays his heart out. I think he'd bring freshness to the role and lead by example

    What do you guys think?

I was thinking Wilshire once fit, for the long term, like Ramsey for the welsh. Parker would be great too, or joe hart

I think Cesc Fabragas should be considered as he is good and maybe the 'ENGLAND' team may stand a chance of winning, which is far more important than showing any real national pride.

Just to clarify are you refuting the fact that the England Captain has to be English or that the england manager can be of any nationality?

take your time when you answer this

Manuel Almunia qualifies to play for ENGLAND because he holds both Spanish and British Citizenship having lived and worked in England for more than five years, but is clearly not English but he could be chosen and also could be made captain. However much i disagree with this its true so i'm sure you'll be happy to concede i'm right your wrong.

So, excluding Almunia (wow) um... Who do you think should be england captain. Preferably a currently playing footballer judged to be elligable to be play for england

I'm not saying i want him to play i was just replying to your comment I'll remind you that the England captain HAS to be English

The England manager can be any nationality.A few years ago i thought it was just a given that the manager would be English and now its not even a consideration so i'm sure in a few years time i'm sure people will happily justify playing non-english players some way or another.

He has dual nationality so yes. Owen Hargreeves was born in canada but he's an english citizen. I still don't get your point, they are still adjudged to qualify as English. Not just anyone could play for England

The Spaniard has investigated taking English citizenship after qualifying through being a UK resident after spending five years at Arsenal.

Would this make the said Spaniard 'ENGLISH' or just an english citizen. Owen Hargreeves father is English.

I think he qualifies because he's been working in the country 5 years. I don't make the rules, but if he plays for England one way or another he has been judged to be English by the rules of the game
