Says a lot that he stepped up today and went centre back. Lad is seriously commited and did a fine job today He's not the biggest bloke and when you consider he fended off The likes of Ngog and Davies who are some big fackers it's very impressive Excellent all round performace today, just thought Naughton deserved a shout
I nearly gave him a ten in my ratings. At right back I really think he oozes class with his touch and delivery, obviously helped by being lightening fast! To then show he can cope as a centre-half (and make some pretty serious defensive headers!) really does go to show. I hope the board are prepared to make a record signing in the summer for him.
As good as Naughton and Bennett's performances were today, awesome in some respects considering the amount of crosses Petrov and Eagles put in, I only think of them as Radweld and hope the two injuries aren't lasting.
We've got Wardy and Barnett so we should be ok for the minute. I think PL will put Martin back in at centre-back though. Sounds like Whitbread should be ok, just a tweak, whereas Ayala's is more serious.
I'm impressed by the whole back four today. We've managed, in typical Norwich fashion, to win a game with a clean sheet when our defence consisted of a left back, two right backs and a right winger. And to think, Alan Pardew said you can't win games when you have have three centre backs injured
well said Beef but also have to say how well Bennett played and the ever great Norfolk Kafu, you would not have belived we had lost out two centre backs, just goes to show the level of belief and trust they have in each other!
A newly promoted side shouldn't be able to cope with the injury issues we've had across the back four this season. That we've done it without anyone outside the club really noticing is a huge tribute to the lads here, and of course to Lambo. None of them can have enough plaudits. As for Naughton specifically, surely we'll be making another move in the summer, he's been outstanding. Also, if we are going to be without Ayala for a bit, how great is it that we've only got another two league games before a very promising defender arrives?
They were all brilliant weren't they! And even though he was playing in his own position (!) I though Drury had a very good game, not just defensively. Just as well he survived the 90 minutes!
.....yeah, but how long before the moaning starts that we can't keep a clean sheet away from home, or in a midweek match. somebody is sure to pick something up to moan about.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into this - I know I am, but Naughton put this on twitter earlier: "please follow @theluxeinterior just finished my house very impressed if u need a interior designer.. RT pls" If he's only just finished having work done on his house, and it's already February, why would he bother if he plans to be gone in three months time back to North London ?
I hope we buy him excellent player, keeps things neat and is reliable exactly what you want in a full back.
