As I've just been discussing on another thread, we've got so many options (offensively at least) that I don't see any need for us to play most of yesterday's XI, on Tuesday. Rest them for the Burnley-West Ham double-header, whilst giving the current fringe players a run-out.

Bart
Butterfield Martin Jaidi Harding
De Ridder Chaplow Hammond Holmes
Lee Barnard

Davis, Stephens, Fonte, JWP, Reeves, Guly, Connolly

(Obviously this is assuming that all of these guys are available)

Lee Barnard up front, who would partner him? ;)

Lambo must play as punishment for not taking the shot on Saturday, everyone is wise to that chip move now, time to move on with a different ploy, and in this game shoot on sight at every opportunity is the order of the day.

I thought Sharp couldn't play in the replay because he wasn't registered with Saints for the first match? If that's the case I would start with Rickie and Tadanari Lee, and have Barnard on the bench.

I think some members often post and don't read. There have been two explanations of Sharp's unavailability - yours and mine. ;)

And mine!

Must admit, I was surprised he didn't shoot. The floated chip was a surprise element at the beginning of the season, but teams know he is going to do this sort of thing now, or shoot. What is needed is a few more alternatives to get around a defence wall, such as the side foot to the apex of the D, for a midfielder to hit a shot.

Bialkowski

De Ridder Hammond JW-P Falque
Guly Lee
Subs: Davis,Lambert,Lallana,Butterfield,Barnard,Cork,Richardson.

really need to win this so we can then test our team against a premiership club. would like only 1 youth to start and maybe 2 on the bench

Is Sharp playing ... only kidding!

Beat Millwalll and we face a poorish Premier team - the sort we are going to have to beat next year, so it'll be interesting. Win that and we'd be in the quarters. Question then is should we really go for it. Anyone for Wembley?!

Adkins is keen on the FA Cup as born out by the fact he hesitated when asked to choose between winning the FA Cup and promotion. He knows promotion is the main target, but if we get to the Bolton game he will play a team capable of winning. Bolton will be wary of us if we get through..nothing worse than playing a top side in the league below..they'd rather play another middling to bottom PL side.
