Why would we care about other team's performance. The notion that we would sit here and think/say "Well Chelsea and Liverpool are equally in a bad run so our bad run is ok" is pathetic. Why do you bother posting tripe ?
As bad as they might be both are higher than us in the table and both of their managers have been in the job for a short space of time and haven't taken their club backwards for the last 7 years.
Sorry, you're right. It shows a snapshot in time between May and June of a small percentage of Arsenal fans. Take that survey in the middle of December when we were on a long unbeaten run and the results would be different.
The only thing you can say with any certainty about the AST survey, is that it showed what a small percentage of Arsenal fans thought (not think) back in May 2011.
I'd say you'd care a lot about the performances of teams around you in the table.

The logic is that other teams who are the same size and stature as us have identical runs of form right now. Yet people here are reacting in a different manner, calling for Wenger's head and saying it's time for him to leave, while the other teams aren't doing any of that nonsense. The reason being that there's people here who love moaning about Wenger and want him to go. Using the team's current form as a reason for him to do so just exposes these people's motives, given that it isn't a logical reason for demanding such. Nobody else around us is demanding their manager goes because of equally bad runs of form.
Nobody's saying "don't criticise". Just have any criticism you have based in reality, and not in grasping at anything and everything and saying "WENGER IS **** BECAUSE". Because then your argument has no substance, and there's no reason to listen to it.
The truth is 7 years without a trophy is not acceptable for the size and stature for Arsenal. Arsene Wenger has been given free rein to do what he wants with the club, buy and shape the team the way he wants. You can apply the stadium debt to the arguement but this has not been an issue for at least 2 seasons now. Has he been close to winning the league, No. Has he been close to winning any cups, a couple of times. Is this acceptable for someone incharge of a large and successful club like Arsenal and get paid £6m a year, no.
so it is wenger fault that we cant keep our best players and we aint strengthened where needed, so does wenger sort out the contracts and buy the players???????? just because we aint brought no one dont mean they aint tried! m'vila hazard and gourcuff were some of the players wenger or whoever does the dealings we tried to sign in the summer, and mata snubbed us for more money at chelsea or his club took 10mil more which ever one you want to use.

Exactly - the point was regarding the teams around us. Who's performance has a direct bearing on where we will finish. Not Wigan who are bottom. To say that we're having a good season because we are above Wigan is a total nonsense point, a paper thin attempt to try and bypass the point

What impact do the runs of other teams it have on us in respect of looking for the reasons behind our performance or more to the point, the lack of such prowess. We should judge the performance of our club by our own high standards, not those of others. Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea and even Spurs have had changes of manager within the last three to four years. They are all enjoying higher positions in the league than us. No one is demanding their removal because of ' similar runs ' to us because in two or three of the cases the managers are fairly new to the position and they have new players to bed in. Wenger on the other hand has been at the helm for 15 years now and in almost half of that time, we have been unable to win any trophies. If anything history would also show that we have stagnated in our style of game. We are unable to adapt to changing conditions, we have no plan B and for nearly a year now we have looked as though every department of our game was wanting. In all these past 7 years, our team has become weaker. Key players who depart are not replaced with players of commensurate ability. Over the course of the past eleven months as I have illustrated before, we have suffered three meltdown periods wherein we have reaped as many points as the games we have played. If we were to only take 15 points from the remaining 15 matches then we may not even be in the Top 7.
Assuming the board are not holding him back, then as the one in charge, Arsene Wenger has to accept the responsibility for the state of our team.
I do think expecting to win things is and has been very difficult for several years.
However I do think we have failed on 'continuous improvement' - poorer tactics, players, transfer dealings, mental strength etc.

Agree on the first count Mr Dutch Master and on the second especially as the lack of continuous improvement has meant that we have been going backwards.
We have not taken steps with Wenger in charge to arrest and reverse the decline - that is my position.
I don't know mate, I think Wenger has done all he can within his resources to do well for this club.
