West ham have a very tense game against Millwall if they don't win we can go top by beating B'ham. I'm confident with the strikers we now have that we can get the win. What do you all think? COYR!
It's possible, but I personally think we might drop down a bit further before a strong late rally to clinch promotion. No need to panic if we spend the next few weeks off the top.
Also think we may go up and down a bit. We may find, like West Ham and Boro did earlier in the campaign, that it can be difficult to unseat the team at the top. Patience and confidence in the team is required.
I have given up on trying to predict anything in this league. Brum are on a roll at the moment with 4 straight wins but we look like we are recovering from our blip so it really could go either way. Personally I would be happy with a point and jubilent if we got all three but we shall just have to wait and see. What I do know is that we need to play the whole game with the same commitment that we showed in the second half on Tuesday evening.
This must be about the toughest game of the season with Birmingham looking so strong, and it's on Sky, but we'll surely put up a better performance that the last televised game. I'd also be happy with a draw, just to hold Birmingham back, and show we can play well away from home. It's getting so close at the top now and hard to see which of the top 7 or 8 teams are going to be the main threat to our promotion. I had us dropping down to 6th on the predictor during this difficult period before going back up, but who would have predicted Tuesdays set of results?
Despite West Hams last result, I would still expect them to comfortably beat Millwall. We clearly have the much tougher game, and at this stage I think that a point would be a very good one indeed. Cardiff v Blackpool could go either way...but I would expect Cardiff to have a bit too much. It's still very much all to play for at the moment, and despite the little blip turning into a very substantial blip we are in a fantastic position to push on now!
I agree with this. A few more bumps on our journey yet; or should that be choppy seas on our boat trip?
I know the mantra is one game at a time, but I think we have to take the long view and not panic if we drop a place this weekend. To go top we have to beat Birmingham and West Ham have to lose or draw, possible but no need to panic if it doesn't happen.
Birmingham haven't lost at home this season so i would take a draw and would be delighted with all 3. Looking forward to seeing Lambert & Sharp in action!!
Drawing with rivals is not the best result (obviously) but does stop them closing in on us or jumping over us, so more important is that we don't lose. After this month things get a bit easier and I think we have the squad to gain promotion.
Like lots of fellow saints here, I'd be happy with a point for sure. Tough game obviously, but maybe being the underdogs for this game (and this hasn't happened to often this year) will work in our favour. As the cliche goes, there home record is there to be broken like ours was. Positives: Sharp wanting to really get off the mark. Taddy really wanting to get off the mark Lallana playing well, and Puncheon adding that balance and technical skill to help us pass our way into the game. Like St Godders says, if the standard of the second half from Tuesday is maintained, we'll give them a game. COYR.
Nigel should send them out at the beginning of the game saying,'This is the second half and we are 1.0 down.'
