I haven't posted on here in fecking years...probably literally years...(or at least one) but after tonight performance I felt i just have to vent my frustration somewhere.

Dont get me wrong I'm not a pessimist and believe we are doing fantastically this season, if anything way overperforming due to a cracking start...HOWEVER

Surely Pardew can see how **** Best and Ameobi have been in the last few games and this is the first chance Lovenkrands has had in quite some time. I've always rated him higher than at least Best (who in my opinion is a mediocre player that is lacking anything even resembling a footballing brain).

The Brighton game and tonight particularly highlighted this for me. How many times are the pair of them caught offside...its beyond a joke. I can almost forgive Bambi cos it takes him half an hour to build up any forward momentum...so beating an offside trap would be tricky. But Best seems to have a bit of pace about him...He just has no clue about positioning...Lovenkrands was at least moving into the right areas and making himself available tonight.

Anyway. Lucky win tonight...they hammered us but it seems their finishing is even worse then ours...amazingly. (Obers goal aside)
Thank god Ba is back and Im looking forward to seeing how Cisse adapts to the prem!

i didnt think ameobi was that bad tonight mind he saved us from the **** a few times

They were both terrible.

I look forward to Sunday, when Ba will take Best's place as a left sided striker, and Cisse will spearhead the attack far more effectively than Strolla. HTL!

Defensively, yeah I might agree with you, he was alright apart from one or two moments, i seem to remember him slicing it straight to a player on the edge of our box for example...but at least he didnt hit our own crossbar from a corner! That would have just been embarrassing.

I guess he is useful at a battering ram up front for his physical strength in the air...and paired up with Lovenkrand's movement something might have come of that tonight. But with Best trying to feed off him, they both just end up looking woeful imo!

Agreed, but we haven't any other option other than to play at least one of them. Lover has been injured aswell so couldn't put him in

Was he injured for the brighton game? I thought he was back cos he was on the bench for the fulham.

Im not having an ameobi bash here, at times he can be useful...just as I said above, paired with Best they both look terrible. Playing Ben Arfa just behind Ameobi would even be better, at least that way if he lost the ball on one of his runs it would be high up the pitch with a full midfield behind him to cover it.

Yeah, he was maybe back, but wouldn't be surprised if he was in transfer talks about a move so Pardew maybe wanted to play the lads he thought was gunna be here.

All moot now with two Dembas back. Don't care...

You are completely right. Cant wait to see Cisse link up with Demba, especially when Cabaye gets back and starts putting some decent supply in!

And yeah @mutant of course I am happy with the result, but I cant ignore how poorly we actually played! I would hate to see games like the fulham one becoming more common!

Thought you were posting regularly during the pre season Tour of the States.

Best is such a confidence player though! He just needs a few goals behind him and he can be brilliant!

So wouldnt you agree that when he ISN'T high on confidence, which arguably he isn't atm, Surely he should be the impact sub? Anyway Im not so sure of this, when he went on that run and scored quite a few goals he always seemed to be luckily placed/fortunate deflections etc.. to me. All just my opinion but thats the way i viewed it!

Anyway like Colly said, this is all moot now with demba x2 back in the team! Now when Tiote and Cabaye get back we should be able to control games alot better!

Yeah you're right it seems so long ago cos i tore my cruciate ligament playing footy and have been stuck on my arse for months and months. Nice to know im remembered tho :P

Not remember the £10 you borrowed off me?

No, you're right it was £20 I agree with that.

No no I wont have any of that. You were absolutely adamant about the £10. And I would hate to see tension and arguments on this board! I think the best thing to do would be just to walk away now before there is any trouble. We can just agree to disagree!

Also...completely unrelated and so i dont have to make a new thread for something so trivial...can anyone hear the audio on this clip of pardew?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16847054 post match interview from tonight but there doesnt seem to be any audio!

Firstly...Harsh.

Best is technically better than a whole load of strikers in this division. I watched your game against QPR and his moment of brilliance won you the game. He's not a 20-a-season striker but he's definitely a decent 3rd choice, and it's not his fault he has to do the work of two strikers when he's playing with that Ameobi fella.

You played poorly, get over it. Sometimes teams play poorly and win, it's what champions are made of.

Lovenkrands and Obertan both benefit from being pacey players, of course they were going to look good against tired legs, but neither would have chipped in defensively so Pardew probably made the right call...anyway it's all academic now as your two African players are back now so no issues...apart from CM where you're missing your two best players.
