I'm sorry we have lost Bassong. However him and Pav seemed very keen to leave, so I guess we've saved some money on them compared to Nelsen and Saha. I'm assuming Pav is leaving. I think we were heading for a loss this financial year, so I guess this is Levy trying to balance the books a little.
the question is who could we have got in that wanted a move and would improve us? Samba?? that guy expects first team action i bet....
im happy we havent rhwon money away in desperation...like we almost got Adams last season in January...i dont like this spend for the sake of it...we never know Bassong and Pav might have been bad for squad morale so ship out i think is a good shout..we wont need either in the run in..and if we did ever need Bssong once every now and again..then we have Nelson for that..something we complained about with Bassong was his lack of experience..we have that in Nelson now.....and Saha can produce and isnt a fast track bully..i think he is a good short term purchase i expect fireworks in the summer..with champ league as a lure.
Bassong is was and always shall be a liability ... Every one groaned when the ball went near him, so hes out and we got nelson as an experienced replacement just in case of injury crisis. Pav is was and always shall be inconsistant to the point of driving us nuts. Looks like hes off and we have saha as another just in case experienced signing. Corluka is was and always will be too slow for our team so hes gone. Corluka aint played all season and we are 3rd .... Whyis he needed now? kaboul can play in place of walker too. Why would we pay a fortune on players who could seriously disrupt the team pattern...especially when the manager is extremely likely to leave after the next 16 prem games. Lots complained at the end,of the last window...its about the team not big name signings bought on a panic/whim basis...thats my view
We needed another CB because Bassong's gone on loan and Kaboul may be needed to fill in at right back if Walker and Livermore get injured. I'm certainly not trying to gloat but I do remember warning you about the "eels swimming around your ankles" recently, you were very dismissive of the teams far closer to you than us then. That said it's far from over a win tomorrow and you're back to 10 points off us, which isn't impossible and just 3 points off Chelsea who desperately need to improve if they're going to rescue their season.
Charlie was unhappy and wanted football before the Euros....shall we drop Walker for him? Same can be said of Pav, neither were going to get what they wanted, so i don't see that as a surprise. I thought Nelsen has played at RB aswell for B'burn, so unlike Charlie, he's happy on the bench, I don't see the need for him as CB back up anymore than I did Seb. King, Kaboul, Daws and WG later on is plenty imo. Saha might just get a spring in his step with a new challenge, better on his day than Pav could ever be, plays up on his own too. Injury prone yes, so we'll just have to see. We needed something up top, and clearly no-one else is about. Big money signings were clearly not going to happen as soon as we saw the reaction to Remy's valuation. We still pay good money to players we're unlikely to see on the pitch again, so until their wages are freed up, I don't expect a big money signing.
i really do belive that the title run in is about experience..about being a happy squad fighting for each other...Pav would rock that boat as he proved with his fall out with the big man Joe. whenever a city player had a spat or has a spat..then we all lick our lips because we know that this could destabalise a good team and cause rifts...those who dont want to fight and make noises can leave. and we got 2 experienced heads..thats what we need..Saha has been part of Championship winning teams and squads with United...hes not a bad player..just got a terrible injury record...worth a 6 month loan punt Nelson is club captain and an experienced international...therefore for me an experienced replacement for SB.
But Nelsen's only played one game this season for a **** Blackburn side. His experience doesn't matter if it's confined to the treatment table.
He's not getting games and we'd already pulled the plug last minute on a loan deal to QPR in the last window. Without the Europa League we don't really have the excuse to keep him against his will any longer.
Noooooooooo!!!!! http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/pav-to-lokomotiv.page It's official, Pav to Lokomotiv Moscow. Dependent on a medical and agreement of personal terms obviously. Now I have to think of a new name and all
thats as many games almost as a fit Bassong..so wheres the loss? the gain however could be team morale. we shall see... the Nelson purchase is i agree odd..and im trying to find reason for it...we could have kept Corluka but i think to allow him a 6 month loan to get games before the euros was probably because we thought he deserves it because he has got his head down and just grafted away...loyalty is a big thing in modern football if we ever see a glimpse of it.
Bassong was poor for us...a liability EVERY time he played...it was a move that aint worked out for him or us and im pleased hes gone...he might get his confidence back and enjoy his football...like kaboul didat pompey. Good luck to him ... I dont mean it cruelly but we arent weaker cos hes gone. He was always last choice for a very good reason....
Come on guys can't you see it, whats the point of a pissed off Charlie, Seb n Pav round the place, their better or worse qualities are irrelevant if they're totally frustrated with no game time. There's more to a football team than what happens on the pitch, I'm beginning to think half of you have never been in one.
