With the Barrios deal now said to be off, it seems we have turned our attention back to Peter Odemwingie (according to Sky Sports). How do people feel about losing Zamora and getting him instead? Hardly fits with our policy of lowering the age of the squad.

Welcome, Circus Lights, nice to see a new name on the board.

I think Odemwingie might be a good fit for Jol's style of play, particularly if he can get back to his clinical form of last season (he hasn't been so hot this year, mind). Funnily enough I mentioned him in a thread earlier today, talking about the difference between a good goals-to-game ratio and a good goals-to-chances ratio. I don't really want to lose Bobby in this window at all. If we do, there are worse replacements than Odemwingie, although as you say he's not going to be a long-term prospect for us. I'd rather keep Bobby and bring in a young up-and-coming goalscorer who can come off the bench and/or challenge Bobby for a starting place as he gets used to the Premier League.

If I were being pedantic, I would say it does - Bobby is 31, Odemwingie is 30. You're right though, he's not exactly a spring chicken in footballing terms.

    And welcome to the fold!

Uncle Woy has just said there has been no contact from any club regarding Odemwingie. Looks like pure speculation. The Russian bloke looks like being close to completing his deal. I'd prefer him to Odemwingie too.

    Thanks for the welcome folks

Am stuck on the sofa today with leg in plaster after rupturing my Achilles tendon ay the weekend. Was looking forward to welcoming Uncle Woy back to the Cottage on Weds, but looks like I'll be absent from the Hammersmith for some time now (don't fancy walking though Bishop's Park on crutches!).

No news on AJ yet today? Can't afford to lose both him & Zamora. Let's hope we can get a work permit for the Russian chap, but can't help but think we should have tried to get Maynard in.

I'm pro-Maynard too. I read that he was linked with West Ham today - any news on a done deal? Perhaps it's not too late for Jol to swoop. Hmmm, the image I've just conjured up of Jol in mid-swoop is a little disturbing.

I think they were just rumours Captain. £4m for Maynard and less wages? Hmmm

Welcome to 606, I'm the guy at Oxford studying for my Master's degree <laugh> Go by the name Bandit, Bandy or Babs.

No to Odemwingie for me, Rodallega would have been interesting if only AJ had been willing to spearhead their survival fight.

Rodagella over Odemwingie for me, although Odemwingie is a proven goalscorer. Its all gone very quite on the AJ front since he turned wigan down, I am starting to think that replacing Zamora with Pogrebnyak might be our only business today. That said, I'd rather AJ played out of his skin for the rest of the season (if only to attract clubs in the summer) and left on a free than we get £2m for him tonight.
