This is an experience for our team that hopefully they will learn from. The main criticisms I have is that I do not think Adkins has actually bought that well Hooiveld aside and that his plan B and C may well be brilliant but I think the players find it hard to adapt and we often lose all shape and discipline when chasing games. However, I think we have to look at the long term goal, promotion within five years, stability and a financially sound footing so why would we want dramatic change. The biggest disappointment last night was that a lot of players did not put in a performance and maybe Nigel needs to get tough with them or perhaps they are jaded?
Perhaps we will just have to agree to disagree on this. Time ultimately will tell and its a lose/lose situation for me if I am right (which hopefully im not and will have to come back and eat humble pie)
I have been a Saints fan for nearly 40 years and have followed them from the old div 2 days through the prem years and all the way down and back from L1. I can honestly say this is one of the best teams i think we have ever had, with some truly talented players, we are in a fantastic position at the moment doing very well in the league, have more money at our disposal than we have ever had and a manger who is doing a fantastic job. so even if we do fail to get promotion this year we will have to have another year in the FLC and try again. lets not forget where we have come from and how low this fantastic club sank. we will again take our place in the premiership and i truly hope it is this season but if not don't start getting on the backs of the management/players and just enjoy watching this fantastic team I now await the inevitable slagging off from some quarters
Lincoln, you may well have a point. But do any of us honestly believe that Nicola Cortese would allow his own mother stop this club making progress? If he judges that Adkins is not the man for the short, medium or long future of this club then said Mr A will find his P45 in the post. The man is clearly ruthless which is why he is such a good business man with a proven track record. We have no need to call for Nigel's head. My own view is that he is a good manager with still a few things to prove. This is the biggest test yet. I think he has the qualities needed to come through it, but I am more sure that NC doesn't give a monkey's for my view. NA is no fool, he will know the pressure more than any of us. He has delivered up to now, let's keep supporting him and the team. Now we are under the microscope. How will we react?
This. Some of you have f***ing short memories. People slating adkins after a couple of poor games are idiots. This will be proven when we beat cardiff on Tuesday and climb back into a great position. I genuinely can't believe some saints fans what more do you want we are SECOND. Even man unites / man city / barcelona go through bad patches and their fans don't start calling for managers heads and crying. Some of you are absolutely pathetic IMO.
Anyone calling for Nigel's head needs their own checked. Yes, we've only taken 11 points in 10 games, which is poor. However, here are the worst extended stretches for the other Championship teams in the hunt: West Ham - 17 points in 10 games. Cardiff - 11 points in 10 games. Middlesbrough - 15 points in 12 games. Hull - 15 points in 12 games. Birmingham - 14 points in 12 games. Blackpool - 13 points in 12 games. Reading - 18 points in 15 games. By that logic, every manager save for Big Sam has been proven to be out of their depth and in need of firing!
