Superman, In my eyes the last few weeks have been the lowest Ive witnessed at the football club, I admire the way Norwich have gone about things they sent money but it earnt them money. Leeds United fans moaning to get BatesOut its not so we can have some russian billionaire its just so we can have someone who will spend a bit of cash to mount that final push to the Premiership and until Bates is gone we won't get that.
I wouldnt mind paying that if we spent even a couple of million on transfers in a year but our highest transfer fee in in the last 5 years was Pugh £500k (and hes ****)
I'd probably agree with that assessment, but I'd say Newcastle and Man City are bordering on the 3rd tier.
in my defence, man city have won european honours, as have newcastle and both have bigger potential than say a norwich or a forest. its all down to interpretation, but some may say forest are a big club cos they won two european cups but i'd argue that the stature of the club overall is not in keeping with a top european club. they were great for two or three years in that era and they did amazingly well, but it is impossible for them to get to that level again, whereas a newcastle or a man city could do that with good management and could sustain it, while a forest wouldn't be able to. ok citeh have the financial backing to do it now but they are a very similar size club to leeds in that respect and to add, the term 'sleeping giant' is often used, and often quite farcically, about many teams. forest are not a sleeping giant! sheffield wednesday are because they have the potential stature wise and fan base wise to get into that 2nd tier of clubs with good management on and off the field. i don't think forest could, nor norwich. leeds are a sleeping giant but leicester (one of the frankly laughable ones i read the other day) are not likewise, qpr, despite having plenty of wonga and having ideas above their station are not capable of moving into that 2nd tier of teams because they simply aren't a big enough club to sustain it. i think that makes sense!!
Its pissing both sets of fans off now! Bet Bates is doing it on purpose waiting til last day so he doesn't have time to get a replacement!! (well thats what he will say)
Man this is a very very sad statement from a supporter! I think we all knew that things weren't too brilliant at Leeds, but are they really that bad that the supporters want their best players to leave? Don't give up mate there is light at the end of the tunnel, although that light may seem to be miles away, it WILL get better. Look where we were 2 1/2 years ago, bottom of the old Third Division, going nowhere apart from out of business. I can't say that I have any affinity with Leeds as a club, but we are all football supporters and are bonded in our love of the game and our particular teams. So as one supporter to another, I wish you and your team well and sincerly hope that things improve for you. ILD OTBC
