Would promotion be a positive?

I'd want us to get promotion any time we could. The Pearsons would ensure we didn't pay crazy money for average players this time.
Outside the top 10 in the EPL there's very few good players so we could compete with a small amount of improvement and no falling out with half the players in the squad.
Increasing the capacity and hospitality has to be a priority.

I was never implying we were the club of 10 years ago, I just think if we were to receive instant relegation in the Premiership that we would be left weaker and our squad more depleted than we were at the start of this season. A single year stint in the Premiership may be just advertising our talent to the mid-table clubs similar to the sales of Turner and Ricketts.
Maybe I'm being closed-minded but I'd prefer to watch football in the Championship next year than observe us being slaughtered in the Premiership and gain a reputation of being a yoyo club.

I second that. Even watching us fighting at the bottom of this division until Christmas was more enjoyable than being in the Premier League was (between December 08 and May 10 anyway).

Owl, I totally disagree with you, mate.

What's the point of playing if you're not playing to win? We should be aiming to be the best team on the pitch every single week. I want to see City going for it and DOMINATING teams. I want to see us win. End of.

If we achieve this, we'll get promoted and surely, that's got to be the aim. What happens in the summer or next season can be dealt with at the time, but for now I want to see us win every single match. I want to see us go up.

Who cares if the squad's not strong enough to compete in the prem (yet)? As others have alluded to, in this life you only get so many opportunities, so you've got to grab them when they're presented to you.

UTT

If we can keep some of the loanees on whatever basis, this squad will not be far off from being good enough to avoid a weekly embarassment in the Prem. The money from getting into the Prem would this time be spent more wisely I am sure. I'd be happy if we got there and I want it, there is no point the Club existing if it didn't want it. You could see on Saturday that the Players want it - a lot.

And I believe we can do it.

You should embrace and celebrate success and enjoy the ride. Provided the finances are viewed in the long term and we keep the basic squad young and improving. With the Allams in the chair and AP and NP at the wheel I think that would be a given.

How can promotion not be our aim, we'd spend resonable amounts on players NP thinks can do the best job possible and even if we did come straight down we'd come back stronger and year by year we would get a better and better squad and somewhere (hopefully) the not to distant future we would get up and stay up and build foundations on that. Plus if the Allams get they're wish, we'll have a PL quality stadium and maybe if we're extremely lucky, a top class sports village.
