I have Newcastle to finish 7th with us 9th. The only way I could see us catching them is if they lost BA and Coloccini, the latter being the most important. Twice on the BBC I heard that they had only 1 shot on target, did I just dream the Gutierrez effort?

Tbh I don't know why some people think we rely on Ba so much for results when Sunderland are currently doing well despite having no real stand-out striker. Why do you think that you guys are capable of flying through results without such a player, whilst we're doomed to barely score without Ba?

When Ba is on the pitch, the team funnels the ball to him as he's the best finisher. Much in the same way that when you had Bent, your team funnelled the balls to him. It was simply logical to do that instead of anything else. With Ba often taking up the best position on the pitch, another Newcastle player obviously can't stand where Ba is standing, so he has to go elsewhere, leaving Ba as the best opportunity to score a goal.

However, with no stand-out striker like that, other players are more open to create goals themselves. Plus, we don't go down to 10 men. The position is filled by another striker who will score a few. Best had something like 8/9 goals in 15 apps when he had a consistent run of games, and with him getting games every week I expect him to score at least half of what Ba would have scored in the next 4/5 games, with other players chipping in. We've seen that players like Coloccini, Cabaye, Jonas, Ben Arfa and others can also score - Ben Arfa especially.

Sunderland can do well without any stand-out striker, and guess what, so can we. We don't rely on Ba. He's simply a big bonus on the ability we already have. Just look at how you guys are doing so well despite playing with 3 goals in 15 apps Bendtner. With a good manager and the right game plan, teams can keep chugging along just fine.

My take on it is the Mags could finish 6th, Arsenal and Liverpool are no where near as good as the press make out. But I think they will probably get 7th. I think us finishing above us will depend on the derby result. If we win it I could see us doing it but I think in reality its likely we will finish 9th this season and they will be 7-8. It will be an improvement again for us so can't moan too much if it happens.

We have too much quality for Sunderland to catch us up, we only faltered when we've failed to have 2 proper CB's on the pitch. It say's alot that Danny Guthrie our 3rd choice center mid is light years ahead of arguably Sunderlands best center mid this season David Vaughan.

I think we'll finish 7th, 6th at best though very unlikely. Loving the fact we're joint 5th in points at the minute and ahead of Liverpool and were it not for the ACON then who knows?

I have to say I'd be gutted with anything lower than 8th and doubly gutted if ****ing Stoke beat us to 7th.

I reckon Sunderland under O'Neill are very much in a little mini group along with us, Everton, Stoke and Villa in terms of quality, battling for the dizzy heights of 7th place and the outside chance of a place in Europe. And were it not for Agent Bruce's fine work at the start of the season and Bendtner being so **** you'd probably be up there with us. Alas, I'd be very surprised if you weren't between 8th-12th at the end of the season.

I wouldn't say streets ahead but I wouldn't swap him for any of them. He's certainly no worse.
