Isn't the deadline tomorrow?! <laugh> i sent mine about two months ago!

Good luck, hope you get all your offers back <ok>

It is <laugh>

But being at a Belgian school it's so different , nobody here understands anything , they're idiots. I've been asking one of my teachers for a letter of recommendation for 3 weeks. Still haven't got it and I'm ****ing pissed.

Got two other ones though so it's not all bad. Hope I get accepted as the grading system is so different here , you have no idea!

Checked the entry requirements in a few universities and they said that if you're coming from Belgium you have to have an overall score of 85% <yikes>

Whilst that may be possible to obtain in the UK (where most of the people go to comprehensive schools , something that doesn't exist here) it's almost impossible here! In my whole grade (150 students) only 2 or 3 have gotten that grade... So my referee is going to speak to a few of the universities and explain the situation.

Anyway we'll see , didn't mean to bore you with this <laugh>

What are you doing in Belgium? Helping Carr scout?

<laugh> our teacher is basically the complete opposite. He didn't shut up about it until we got them sent off, i spose that's a good thing but it was annoying at the time!

Surely being overseas you'll get a place as overseas students don't count to the quota of places which needs to be filled. The UK government will subsidise a certain amount of places for UK students and once that's filled it costs the uni money, but foreign students don't count towards to quota so they can have as many as possible.

I take it you do the IB thing? Or is there some other grading system in Belgium?

Ahh lucky!

Nope no IB... Could have done that if I went to an international school but I actually go to a Dutch speaking school where they examine EVERY SINGLE SUBJECT YOU CAN IMAGINE.

Which means I actually have to waste my time studying for religion , arts , geography etc. even though I'm going to do a marketing course in university.

It's a joke.

That just sounds horrid. I'd hate to still be doing RE, i can't actually think of a worse way to spend an hour than reading up about Mark's Gospel!

Is there no way of going to Uni in Belgium, or was it just that you wanted to go to the UK for Newcastle? <laugh>

I can easily go to a Belgian university! You don't have to write a personal statements , you don't need references , you don't need certain grades.

NOTHING! Just show them you've passed your last year and they'll welcome you.

But I want to leave Belgium for a few years , trying living away from home.

Newcastle would be lovely :D

<laugh> They sound like Scottish Uni's! I think they just welcome anybody in, unless you're English!

Ah right, fair enough, it's worth getting out and seeing the world a bit i suppose. <laugh> I was going for Newcastle originally and then i realised that Newcastle and Durham uni's had grade expectations i was nowhere near and i didn't want to go to Sunderland! So i've ended up with loads of southern choices. Still, it's a whole load of water closer to Newcastle <laugh>

What about Northumbria uni?

One of my 5 choices.

I showed no ambition at all. I just picked Uni's that were in wales. Ended up at cardiff.

<doh> completely missed that one.

Oh well. I've got Reading, Kent, Oxford Brookes, Chichester and Sussex, so they're all miles away.

That's annoyed me now...i couldn't even care less about Kent so i could've put Northumbria!

A good friend goes to reading, says it's pretty good. The women there are stunning apparently.

Haha maybe I should have kept quiet , sorry..

5 Goals, are you English of Belgian? The fact you can speak English and Dutch (any French/German/Flemish in there too?) might make them want you - fluency in two languages is very difficult!

I'm fluent in English , Dutch , French and Lebanese and I speak a bit of German.

Quite pleased with that , I mentioned it like 467 times in my personal statement <laugh>

I didn't really but I mentioned it haha.
