interesting idea. he's a bit of a loose canon, a cocky lad. there can be no doubt he has immense talent but will his attitude be a problem in a tight-knit squad like ours? for me, if a manager can get his head right and find a role in the team where he can play with freedom and not have to worry about defending (a bit like taarabt), then i think they could have a superstar on their hands. someone will go for him, if indeed he is available, but i'd be surprised, mega surprised, if fergie lets him leave.
 
hmm, reading up about his personal life has made me think he's probably the last player on this earth that lambert would sign! i knew his personal life has been, shall we say, chequered, but i wasn't aware of just how many times he's been to court etc. he'd fit in well at ipswich with their bunch of criminals... well, he would if he were 35 years old! <laugh>
 
neither Holt nor Martin were involved with intimidating witnesses

On the face of it the Chris Martin case was just silly it wasn't a "classic" assault but still obviously wrong as for Grant Holt I don't count motoring offences and as for the failure to attend well that turned out to be an almighty cock up.

Not trying to be biased but that stuff tends to be what 75% of young lads get into at some point not all end up in court no further action, cautions etc. None of that stuff is really serious enough compared to say some footballers giving some girls a "roasting" or kicking the **** out of someone (in full view of cctv) or interfering with witnesses or say shooting someone with an airgun...
 
lambert seems pretty downbeat about the january market this year. doesn't look too promising at the moment. there is such a lack of movement on all fronts at the moment from nearly all clubs so i suppose its not really a surprsie
 
...and aren't they after roque santa cruz? i mentioned to a qpr fan the other day that hughes has his favourites and i expect to see santa cruz meandering his way to shepherds bush soon as a bit of a joke, but now it might actually happen! <laugh>
 
i'd rather we don't interfere with our wage set up. its there for a good reason and it will only lead to wider problems if we increase it. maybe at the end of the season it can be raised but not while our future is still in the balance. the kind of players we are targeting shouldn't be asking for more than the current players we have on our books if they are coming from lower down the leagues anyway

100% agree supers. The players we have are all quite happy and so far are doing the job. Why pay more and risk upsetting the apple cart. Once we are assured of safety then maybe increase all salaries (appropriately!) together. New players would then fit into the new wage structure.

Problem is that it always ends up being a last minute thing at this time of year. The majority of clubs will not let players go because (a) they might get a better offer and (b) they would like to try and organise a replacement.

The transfer window is fine for the larger/rich clubs, but kills the smaller more prudent ones. The transfer Window is part of the problem with football these days.
 
Exactly rights supers! It would cause too much of an inbalance in the squad.

Also, QPR looking at players like Alex can be very dangerous. It hasn't worked for them so far so why will it work from now on?
