    iTunes is free...?

    If not, this might not work, but can you not go My Computer > USB Device (the iPod) and manually copy the music from a folder within the USB Device folder?

    You can't transfer music from your iPod to a computer with iTunes, it only works putting it on an iPod with iTunes.

    Itunes only transfers music from computer to ipod. I just got a new laptop and need to transfer my music onto it. I could just put my music onto my external hdd and do it that way but then I will lose my playlists and playcounts so I need to transfer my music directly from my ipod onto my computer and the only way I have found to do that so far is to buy software that allows you to do it, but preferably I do not want to pay anything.

    I thought he meant Sudan but I know there's a surprising amount of countries in Africa (over 50 I think) so thought I might have been being ignorant. Luckily my GCSE in French was enough to understand your post ;)

    Haha that's all I've got, too! Took me about ten minutes to remember the verb to talk. Pretty sure my french teacher would probably have a haemorrhage over that if he read it...
