That will be the same Cairney that Pearson gave a new 3 year deal to last year I presume?

i suspect that new 3 year deal was a re-negotiation of his previous deal which was of a shorter term, but allowed an enormous hike in salary on a soon to be realised appearences milestone! My guess that the new deal was more about saving money in the short term rather than anything else. I still hope Cairney makes it however. Always a favourite for me throughout his formative years

yeah...more to the point, who has seen matt Oxley play in reserves? does he look decent.

I've seen Mark Oxley a few times, has he got a brother? :emoticon-0105-wink:

To be honest, I can't really remember him making much of an impression on me, either one way or the other, he has looked a bit nervous on occasion(hence my surprise at Duke's departure), but I don't remember him dropping too many clangers.

To be honest, it's hard to tell from reserve team performances, I suspect none of us all will really know how good he is until he's tested in the first team(but I hope it's not tomorrow).

For me Duke is a good guy, one who will always try his best and fight for the cause, but i am not sure he is good enough, very similar to McShane. Both players i would never criticise due to the fact they will leave everything out on the pitch. I wish him the best of luck as i think all City fans will and hopefully one day we will see him back at the KC playing against us. Good luck Dukey.

Matt Duke deserves respect from the City fans. He has been prepared to understudy for a long time knowing his chances were likely to be limited and has never moaned about the situation. Part of a group of players who has been with the club as we have risen through the leagues. When asked to come in and do a job he has done it without lots of fuss, knowing he was likely to be sat back on the bench soon. The team is moving on and we are looking for younger players so I for one wish Matt well and hope he continues to be able to make a decent career in the game. If as part of that he can help Derby take points of our play-off rivals even better.

He's out of contract in the summer and I'd be amazed if we offered him another. He wants to go out on loan to try and earn a deal elsewhere, well done the club loaning him out now so that he can whilst also ensuring he still acts as our cover in case Mannone gets injured or suspended. When was the last time we subbed a keeper injured during a game rather than them finishing it and then being replaced from the start the following game?
